Can you say slow??
First, I have rangered at courses in Chicago and AZ. I did not see anyone monitoring pace of play at Hilldale. The pace on the front was great, roughly two hours. Unfortunately we went 2:45 on the back!! While there are a couple of challenging holes on the back, there is absolutely no reason for that pace!! I at a loss to explain this differential, but I don’t have to, I just don’t have to go back!
It's been a while, and I was pleasantly surprised
staff was friendly and courteous, the course was in excellent condition, despite the rainstorm hours before we played. and it is as challenging as you let it be playing from the tees that suit your game best. Don't torture yourself biting off more than you can chew, because this course will show you either a terrific opportunity or make you question your ability, while still providing a fair test of golf. Enjoy!!
Need more rakes for sand traps
Some traps have only one rake
So no one rakes them
Hole 16 needs signs by the path carth path only to keep people off of it people in front always get stuck when the cart locks up slows down Play and older the people cannot push the carts out
5 hour round
Need Marshall’s out there because the pace of play was very slow. The group in front of us needed to be pushed. But it’s such a great course
A gem
We are lucky to have this course in the Chicago area. It’s not just good, it’s clever.
Poor hospitality/ Cussed at by employees
Horrible experience. Pro shop staff cussed me out. Made excuses for pace of play. Starter said the ranger on staff wasn’t going to do anything to fix pace of play. Asked for a rain check while raining and pro shop attendant cussed at me. Used to be favorite course in the area. Will never be back.
NIce course and convient for the money.
I do not play regularly. So my review is based on a golfer which plays 3-5 time per season at best. But the course is more challenging than Streamwood Oaks Golf Club and less challenging than The HIghlands of Elgin.
I did not eat or spend time in the clubhouse.
Great course
Played there many times. Always a great experience.
