Lakemont at Stone Mountain Golf Course

About
Stone Mountain Golf Club boasts 36 holes of championship golf that are a part of Stone Mountain Park, which is one of the Southeast's most popular attractions. The Lakemont Course winds around the beautiful Stone Mountain Lake through forests of Georgia pines and hardwoods. John LaFoy, a native of the state, designed the golf course. He incorporated his signature mounding and dramatic bunkering, which is enhanced even further by the wildly undulating terrain. The lake is more prominent on the front nine where water comes into play on six holes. The back nine still features water on four holes, but there are more rocky outcroppings, providing different but equally stunning scenery. Stunning mountain views can be enjoyed from every hole and golfers will also be able to glimpse the famous Confederate memorial carving featuring Robert E. Lee, Jefferson Davis, and Stonewall Jackson.

6-7 hour pace of play - on a Thursday….
Waited on every hole and groups were double stacked on tee boxes starting on tee #2. Called Marshal a few holes in and no action taken. After 4+ hours and triple stacked on 12th tee we called it and headed in. The group causing the back up(4 elderly women playing every shot when they hit it about 20 feet per shot) was 2 holes ahead and driving in there was not a single group on 15,16,17 or 18.
Marshal should be regulating pace of play.
Casual round
We had nice round but very disappointed in grounds. Not usually standard. Surprising
Amazing
The people that work there were super friendly especially for it being our first time there. We played the Lake course and I recommend it to everyone. This is coming from someone who has just started playing and has only been to like 5 courses so impressing me is pretty easy. I would love to come back again.
Overpriced
This course is way overpriced for the conditions that the course is in. A better price would be closer to $60-70.
Way over priced, greens are a disaster
I can’t believe they charge $104 when majority of the greens are severely damaged and multiple tee boxes need work.
It’s crazy that Stonemount is in phenomenal shape but Lakemount is in need of a makeover.
Great scenery
Stone Mountain Lakemont course is absolutely beautiful with views of the mountain and lake. Nice fairways and best of all in my opinion, BATHROOMS!
Nice course
Overall a nice course and layout. Beautiful views in the national park. The only down side was the greens. They were horrific and very inconsistent. Clearly not worth the cost with the greens in such a sorry state.
Nice RTJ layout
Course layout was challenging and fun. Greens were good speed but several need repair. For the second weekend in a row I was frustrated by the beverage cart service who only showed up at the very beginning of the back nine and were never seen again (last week it was that they showed up finally on 17). For someone in the industry it’s lost revenue. In the end, it’s a good value in a challenging market. I will definitely return.
OVERPRICED
This course is NOT worth even close to what they're charging!!
There are bare patches all over the place; the tee boxes & greens are pretty rough. Also be aware that you have to pay an extra $20 just to get in the park, making your $100 tee time actually $120. If you're going to pay this much go to Bears Best, Lanier or play twice somewhere else. This used to be nice for say $60 but nowhere near $100.
Not Worth the Money
I visited Stone Mountain a few years back and thought it would be great to play golf there. After we booked a lake house for the week at Lake Lenier I decided this would be the perfect opportunity to play there. The round cost almost $100/person, which we were all ok with until we got there. First we had to pay $20 just to enter the park. The clubhouse and the pro shop staff and cart attendants were very nice and welcoming. We were informed by the starter that there was no beverage cart service. There were no water coolers on the course either and Lakemont’s layout does not take you by the clubhouse after 9. Again, no water coolers on the course. After our round we went to the clubhouse bar to get a drink, I personally didn’t have an issue, but others in the group did. They ordered drinks with Buffalo Trace, but the bartender used a different liquor and said “that’s how I make it”. When this was brought to her attention she said “are y’all going to make me pour all these drinks out?”. I guess I am spoiled, I live in the Myrtle Beach area, when I spend $90-100 for a round of golf I expect more. Simple things like a beverage cart, water coolers, GPS on the cart, and good service at the bar. I would never recommend this course to anyone.
Save your money for somewhere else.
After paying $20 for park entrance and $100 for the round you still get the privilege of paying for range balls and seeing the beverage cart for the first time at the turn. There is one water fountain per side and only one of them works, better stay hydrated this summer. The greens looked like they were cut by someone trying to fit a square inside of a circle without rounding out the edges, and finding a good spot on tee boxes was like playing pin the tail on the donkey.
Bad Value
The course was in pretty rough shape. Many of the fairways included areas where there was no grass and an okay tee shot would leave you hitting off sand and rock. Greens were incredibly slow and several included dead patches. No water coolers available on the course which wasn't brought up at the pro shop. There is a sign for a snack bar at the turn but speaking to someone who worked there it sounds like that snack bar hasn't been there/functional for years. Overall, I would play this course again at a ~$45 price point, but the quality and amenities expected for an $80-$100 round simply did not exist
