Smoke Rise Country Club

If you are looking for a challenging round this course will deliver. The front nine requires accurate drives while the back nine has 3 par 5's and 3 par 3's making it quite enjoyable. A lot of step hills so I'd recommend a cart.

not able to use practice facility because of college team and work on green. Pace of p;;ay was way too slow, Took over five hours to play. Greens were in great shape and fast.

Smoke Rise has been under some improvements the last few months. Landscape and maintenance is being performed all over the course. Large amount of trees, limbs, and shrubs removed. Friendly staff. Will keep visiting the course and have added it to the course rotation.

The narrow and undulating fairways made it a difficult course for me. I liked the challenge but losing a ball is easy in the rough just off the fairways. The distances from the intermediate were good and the greens were amazingly fast. This is the type of course that requires a good amount of skill.

Greens were in good condition. Tee boxes were so. Some had grass, some didn't. Fairways were so so. Been on some that were much better. Pin places were awful. Several were on ridges. on one green, three us had to putt up the green to the cup placement which was on the ridge only to have our putts roll 20' downhill and we had little pace on the ball. Bunkers were not in good condition (last year was about three weeks ago). It was just frustrating waste of $30. We are playing in a tournament there in two weeks. If the tournament is at Smoke Rise again next year, I won't participate in it.

The greens were lost sometime back, so they put them back…this was first day back open for play. Did not disappoint. Putting a little slow due to non-aggressive cutting and still a little sand-rich between the blades. That said, still putted about average for a course open to public. Give ‘em another couple of weeks, and the undulations and a tighter cropping, and they’ll be diabolical. As it was, the sandy underlay only served to stop your approach on a dime. Great round of throwing darts at the pin! I expect once they’re in full form, the Championship Bermuda will Stimp out well over 10, making Smoke Rise a wicked track. The rest of the course was really nice, good fairways and bunkers that aren’t too fluffy. Layout is really challenging, so it’s better to be accurate than long. Very scorable in current condition…once the greens stop holding everything, you can probably add 10 strokes for the wayward hacker b/c long is hardly ever good. Several “standard” holes, a couple of reachable 5’s and more than one ‘signature’ hole by non-country-club standards. Many scorable holes, so if you bring a consistent game, it’ll be fun. If you spray and pray, it’ll cost you some balls. I’ll definitely be back for the (very reasonable) challenge. It’s beautiful and shapely, but not offensively punishing. My first time out (which usually means a course eats my lunch) was right on my handicap. I did enjoy the benefits of playing with guys familiar with the course, which surely saved me some strokes. I look forward to my next time out there, now knowing better how to manage the 2 or 3 blind tee shots. Even a reachable par-4…hard to beat it for the money anywhere around Atlanta.

Course was great today! Greens have some challenging pin placements. The course is not long but your score will add when putting! I would definitely play again soon!

Smoke Rise is a beautiful course with undulating fairways and greens. The greens are perfect! They are not too fast, and they roll so smoothly. It’s not a very long course, but club selection is very important. They are doing some good work improving the cart paths and bunkers. A fantastic place to play!

Steep grade …smart carts keep you safe. Please mark areas on course where cart is disabled - no driving areas- we inadvertently traveled in as did others and it slows down play

I like the course cause it's very challenging and it's in pretty good shape overall. The issue is the carts are really slow and prevent you from going pretty much anywhere but the fairway and cart path. Even on the cart path the carts are so slow it takes an eternity to get to your ball. It was pretty frustrating during the round. I like the course but I can't see myself going back until they are willing to speed up the carts a bit.
