Best course conditions this season! Pace off play perfect front 9....slowed down after the turn.

Beyond frustrated with cart movement restrictions! Cart stopped on the cart path. Cart stopped in the middle of fairway. Random restrictions without any reason. Played this course many times before and never had any issues with restricted areas. This needs to be corrected immediately.

This course has a wonderful staff and great facilities, it suffers from a very weak layout. The back is better than the front though.

Very gimmicky and way too narrow in places, the course just is not much fun. The par 3s are strong and the par 4s on the back (12,15,18) are pretty good. On the front, however, they are too gimmicky. The par 5s 2 and 10 are probably the worst holes on the course, joined closely by 4,5, and 9.

The greens need to be redone. They are bent and do not have the fans to keep air circulating on them, so they are in really rough shape. Time to put Bermuda in.

Always enjoy playing Smoke Rise. Normally well organized, but a little disorganized this past Saturday. Normally, no hassles. Good golf experience.

I had a fun day, but I’ll likely check out other courses in the area before returning. I liked the course layout. You could tell that it was once a really nice golf course. The greens left something to be desired, and there was no practice putting green to try out before the round. However, the staff was extremely friendly, and they even suggested that I hit putts on 18’s green.

If I played again, I would walk. Golf carts were extremely frustrating. Honestly hindered the round. They were slow, and often the cart would stop working, asking you to return to a designated area. On one hole you couldn’t move the cart past the 150 yard marker in the fairway. On another hole you couldn’t get inside 80 yards when driving the cart in the fairway, and backing out to a place the cart would move forward again took my partner 5 minutes. The carts are just way too restrictive. Detracts from the overall experience.

Very challenging course .You better make sure your ball lands in short grass or you will be having a long day trying to hit out high grass. .

Played here at the beginning of summer and again today and the course conditions have improved greatly. Staff is friendly and the pace of play was never an issue. Storms were rolling in when we were on 11 and they had no issue giving us a rain check for the back. Will come back to this course again before season is over

Was looking for a course to play last Friday and found Smoke Rise Country Club. It was a bit of a drive, but once we got there we met the most amazing staff. Because it was a slow day, they gave us 50% the greens fees making it only $17 to play. The course pro even drove us to the first hole and walked us through the course. Overall the course played a bit challenging, but it was a fun day.

This course has made significant improvements! The staff is super friendly. I enjoyed my day. It’s a tight course.

I’m a regular there but wanted to say how much the improvements are helping. For a few weeks in June the course was pretty rough but they are definitely making improvements and it shows. The new practice facility will be great just have to be patient. Want to also say that the staff is always friendly and Alex is the best. She’s never in a bad mood and is always so helpful and makes me excited to get out there and play some golf!

You can tell this was a nice CC some time ago..They are hard at work. Its coming along. Greens were not bad. Plenty grass to hit off of in the fairways. Will return again

Decent course, pretty well maintained. Staff super friendly. Carts have screens that provide distances to greens. The carts also are set to block you from riding in certain areas. Pretty cool except sometimes the GPS readings must be off and the cart will stop in strange places (even when other playing partners carts are still going). But for the most part they run fine. There is a driving range and last time I was there, they were tearing up the putting practice area to double its size.

Friendly staff and got off on time. Pace of play was surprisingly fast for a Friday. Not much traffic. Course condition was really good. A course you’d have to know to score well on.

Much better condition than the last time I played here in March. Rough is green and thick, and the fairways and greens are also in good shape with healthy grass - they said they had aerated the greens only a week or so ago but you couldn’t tell by looking at them, they were smooth and rolled true, if anything they were a bit slow from the thick grass (probably mowing them high until they have recovered from aerating). Multiple concrete cart path sections have been repaired/replaced recently, and work was ongoing on others, there were no major cart path detours as there were back in March before this work began. It’s good to see they are investing in the course, so many now are just letting their courses decline. Practice green was not available, as it is undergoing renovation/ replacement, they are regrading it and changing the previous slope, which was way too steep to be helpful when warming up before. Only annoyance was the carts were governed down to a very slow speed and a couple of areas not too close to the greens were not marked as being places you could not go with the cart, until it stopped you and made your back out - they said they’d had some problems recently with knuckleheads flipping carts over and had reduced speed and a few previously driveable areas for that reason. A very pleasant round, I’ll go back sooner than 4 months next time.
