About
Nestled in the foothills of the north Georgia mountains, Sugar Hill Golf Club tumbles across elevation changes that range from subtle to dramatic. The course is artfully laid across the rolling hills, weaving through stands of mature trees, to provide it with the maximum level of challenge and the best views. The natural contours played a role in determining the placement of the bunkers around the greens and fairways as well as shaping the sharp doglegs. As if the golf course didn't already have enough challenges, there are also deep grass canyons and water hazards to contend with. The par-4 fifth and the par-3 12th are memorable water holes, both featuring large lakes that lurk in front of the greens. Sugar Hill G.C. is known as one of the toughest golf courses in the area.

Great Value for the Money
Played Sugar Hill with a buddy. It had been a while since playing the course last and we noticed how much it had improved since Covid. Greens were OK, even though they had recently been aerated, fairways were well mown the tee boxes were level and fair. We will come back again, as the course was just tough enough to give us a good time. Clubhouse was great. Bloody Mary's and biscuits were awesome.

Greens were aerated three weeks ago and are still in bad shape not worth the $41.

Horrible Course Conditions
Before making a reservation, I checked with the pro shop about course conditions and they indicated course was aerated over a month ago, and greens were 90% healed.
When I arrived at course, the practice green was terrible and clearly had not recovered from the aeration, and ALL the greens were in bad shape being bumpy, grainy and with tons of hole punches. This made putting very hard and frustrating. Clearly the pro shop lied about the course conditions. Also there is NO Marshal on the course and it took over 5+ hrs to finish the round.
I will NEVER be coming back to this course again! Buyer Beware!

Great course for the money
The course was in very good condition, the pace of play was good, we only waited on a few holes and we were a twosome playing behind a foursome. The greens had been aerated but that was disclosed before booking. I have played the course before and the greens are good. This is a Municipal course and it is a very good value for the money, and a good alternative to the much more expensive courses in the area.

Great course, poor pace of play
The course was great and the conditions were absolutely fantastic. We had a group in front of us that backed up the whole course. It was infuriating. The Marshall talked to them once on the third hole and it made no difference. They continued to play incredibly slow. I will give it one more try but if this is typical for the course I won’t be headed there again after.

They need sideline yardage markers. Greens should be good after they recover from yearly maintenance. Hilly course but fun to play. Will definitely return

Too much cart path only BS in such hilly dry terrain, side slope fairways kick balls off

Tee times do not matter here.
Apparently tee times do not matter here. I arrived well before my tee time to warm up. Went up to the starter 10 minutes before my tee time and he says he’s already sent my group off and that I need to catch up. He told me I could not tee off on hole #1. Told him my tee time and it was my first time here. He said when he runs things he sends people off early. Why even have tee times if you’re not going to stick to them.
