About
Nestled in the foothills of the north Georgia mountains, Sugar Hill Golf Club tumbles across elevation changes that range from subtle to dramatic. The course is artfully laid across the rolling hills, weaving through stands of mature trees, to provide it with the maximum level of challenge and the best views. The natural contours played a role in determining the placement of the bunkers around the greens and fairways as well as shaping the sharp doglegs. As if the golf course didn't already have enough challenges, there are also deep grass canyons and water hazards to contend with. The par-4 fifth and the par-3 12th are memorable water holes, both featuring large lakes that lurk in front of the greens. Sugar Hill G.C. is known as one of the toughest golf courses in the area.

The course needs to get their grass growing on both fairways and tee boxes. Could just be that it is early for the grass to be fully grown.
I didn’t care for the course being so hilly which leads to many blind shots on many of the holes.
The greens were fine but the bunkers need some work.
During the summer if the grass comes in the course should play better.
The people at the course were very nice and friendly!
If conditions improved I would not hesitate to recommend the course as a change of pace.
Get what you pay for
Cheap price = rough conditions. Many bald tee boxes and poor sand conditions in traps. Lots of bare spots around green and deep gulches caused by water runoff. Course is just odd in terms of layout with most holes shaped to conform with hills. Few flat lies and many blind shots. Don’t care for this course and the conditions are poor but it’s sub $40 so there’s that.

Sugar Hill is a fun challenging course.
Course was in good shape for the time of the year. In 30 days the grass and Tee boxes will be better.
Over all I enjoyed olaying the course.

Go To Course in the Area
I have been playing at sugar hill for years and it is my go-to course in the area. Nothing there is going to blow you away, but for the rates that they charge you cant beat it. Greens are in great shape. New turf on the range is nice. Some easy holes and some very difficult holes that make you hit quality shots. Sugar hill is great.

Great day except....
Everything was great - friendly staff, paired up with nice decent golfers, teed off 10-15 minutes early, ,pace of play was great, and then....
A twosome appeared out of nowhere on the 8th hole squeezing in between our foursone and the one in front of us (only a one hole or less gap) and pace of play went from great to having to wait on every hole and almost every shot for the final 11 holes. Think they came from the other nine to possibly avoid waits/slow play on that nine. Anyway it somewhat ruined our day as our enjoyable round of golf and relaxed pace of play turned into a hit it & wait situation for the entire back nine. Although marshalls were on the course and seen occasionally, this twosome was allowed to continue out of position for the rest of the day & round which was unfortunate and disappointing.

Water!!
Hottest day of the year so far and no water in the coolers and no cart girl on the course. And of course they were very strict about not bringing any drinks from outside. Must be government workers cause it seemed that they couldn’t care less.

Nice course, rough staff.
Best bang for your buck course in Gwinnett probably, tee boxes need a little work, fairways are good and greens roll well, slow, but well.
The biggest turn off of this course is the staff. Just about all the men working the register do not exactly hide the fact they DONT want to be there. They’ll Toss your card on the counter after they swipe, smart “aleck” comments, almost inappropriate… and just overall in bad moods if you dare ask them a question.
Happiest person was the starter who honestly flipped our mood completely from when we left the office. Great course for the money but staff needs an HR/customer service class. Worth playing if you can get past miserable staff members.

Weekday golf
Course is doing some maintenance of a few fairways, doesn’t have too much affect on your round. The green are in really solid shape. The staff does a great job running the course. It’s going to be really great during the summer, they really care about this course. The blue tees where playing a little bit further back then normal and made for a fair challenge on a few holes. Definitely recommend this course!

Lovely local muni
Greens are slow, but consistent and healthy. Layout is funky, tons of elevation, but fun. Plenty of par 4s and 5s with shortcuts for the bold. Never seen a beer cart but the lady inside is great. Love playing here.
