About
Nestled in the foothills of the north Georgia mountains, Sugar Hill Golf Club tumbles across elevation changes that range from subtle to dramatic. The course is artfully laid across the rolling hills, weaving through stands of mature trees, to provide it with the maximum level of challenge and the best views. The natural contours played a role in determining the placement of the bunkers around the greens and fairways as well as shaping the sharp doglegs. As if the golf course didn't already have enough challenges, there are also deep grass canyons and water hazards to contend with. The par-4 fifth and the par-3 12th are memorable water holes, both featuring large lakes that lurk in front of the greens. Sugar Hill G.C. is known as one of the toughest golf courses in the area.

Nice course
Enjoyed playing. Range was closed when we got there but people were hitting when we left. A challenging course but fun. We were a foursome and were in view of the foursome ahead of us. A twosome blee by without a ward , rude and we had to wait for them to clear. Otherwise the course was fine. Can’t do muck about inconsiderate people.

Avoid at all costs
Honestly Management should be ashamed. The staff was incredibly rude, pushed our tee times up 10 minutes because they were fully booked and had an attitude every step of the way. The Gentleman who was taking payments in pro shop had the personality of a wet rag. Saw several patrons take their golf cart to their car to load up but for what ever reason our group was told we were not allowed to do so. The state of the course was atrocious for what they are charging. The pins haven't moved in god knows how long that the roots made every putt roll right out. Bunkers where mud pits that haven't been maintained since the Clinton Administration. Cart Girl was nice but their drink selection was Trash, charge for Ice even if you buy multiple drinks. Clearly the Owners only care about scamming people at every turn. Wont be back or recommend to anybody for the foreseeable future.

Staff was rude to all of my party when checking in and excuse was… they are fully booked but when we arrived, clerk was on their personal cell phone…”super busy”.
The tokens for range balls are very inconsistent. 1 coin gave me a full bucket, the next coin was half a bucket. Highway robbery.
Took over 5 hours to finish the round because they don’t book according to tee and group which caused 3 groups to pile up waiting. Greens are absolutely terrible with aeration not healed for over 2 months according to other reviews, heavy sand and weeds growing out of them.
Tee box locations are laughable on multiple occasions.
I wont be back for the foreseeable future.

Greens in rough shape
Course is fun and challenging, but greens were in terrible shape. Heavily sanded, uneven and long putting greens, practically unplayable. Two holes the tee boxes were closed off forced to play from fairway. I am disappointed that they did not make this aerification alert on golfnow with the condition its in.

Have fun
I fill like they book tee times to close together cause we play blue tees and a lady plays with us which she is a beginner and don’t want her to feel rushed and you can’t let anyone play through cause there are four in front of them also some of the tees are in direct line of another tee competing from opposite directions we saw two people almost get hit when someone teed off and it landed on the tee box they were on other than that it was great and see will be back

Great Value for the Money
Played Sugar Hill with a buddy. It had been a while since playing the course last and we noticed how much it had improved since Covid. Greens were OK, even though they had recently been aerated, fairways were well mown the tee boxes were level and fair. We will come back again, as the course was just tough enough to give us a good time. Clubhouse was great. Bloody Mary's and biscuits were awesome.

Greens were aerated three weeks ago and are still in bad shape not worth the $41.

Horrible Course Conditions
Before making a reservation, I checked with the pro shop about course conditions and they indicated course was aerated over a month ago, and greens were 90% healed.
When I arrived at course, the practice green was terrible and clearly had not recovered from the aeration, and ALL the greens were in bad shape being bumpy, grainy and with tons of hole punches. This made putting very hard and frustrating. Clearly the pro shop lied about the course conditions. Also there is NO Marshal on the course and it took over 5+ hrs to finish the round.
I will NEVER be coming back to this course again! Buyer Beware!
