About
Nestled in the foothills of the north Georgia mountains, Sugar Hill Golf Club tumbles across elevation changes that range from subtle to dramatic. The course is artfully laid across the rolling hills, weaving through stands of mature trees, to provide it with the maximum level of challenge and the best views. The natural contours played a role in determining the placement of the bunkers around the greens and fairways as well as shaping the sharp doglegs. As if the golf course didn't already have enough challenges, there are also deep grass canyons and water hazards to contend with. The par-4 fifth and the par-3 12th are memorable water holes, both featuring large lakes that lurk in front of the greens. Sugar Hill G.C. is known as one of the toughest golf courses in the area.

Great for the money, good variety of challenges
Good hospitality, great value. Overall hilly and some challenging holes. Greens were true.

The pace was too slow and rangers didn't do anything about it.

Golfers,
If you make a double par, pick up your ball and move to next hole.
Also, I don't understand their golf cart policies. They don't allow loading a club bag to a cart in the parking lot but they allow unloading a golf bag from a cart in the parking lot. Weird!!

HOT!!!!!
It was a Hot Humid day! TeeOff 1:10 pm. 4 1/2 hr round. So hot! Had an incident on 11th hole. Group behind us hit in to us while we’re on the green. Their golf ball whizzed past the head of one of us. Seriously this was the third time they hit into us. Called Marshall and they spoke the them. No problems from then on.

The greens and some parts of fairway are in bad shape but it’s hard to complain given the price point.

You have to play very early!
I had an 11;30 time this past Sunday, I am about a 2- 3 handicap player and have broken 70 at Sugar Hill, I teed off with a man and his wife and another man, his wife took 5 -10 swings before she hit the ball, maybe 30 shots before she reached the green, he shanked his drive into the 10th fairway, then later picked up my drive and proceeded to play it!, the other man hit his drive onto the 9th green, then the second tee!, then on the green his wife walked in front of me while I had a makeable birdie putt!, that was enough, I took my bag off the cart and walked in, there are people out there who have no business on a golf course and it is insanely slow, from now on I'm teeing off before 7:30 a.m.

Getting Better
We've play SugarHill several times over the years. Its a little out of the way, and not a course I'd play every week, but, its improving.
The staff was very pleasant... Kudos for that. Probably the first thing to a good course.
The fairways are better.
The greens could use some work they were very slow and beat up some, the roll wasn't true.. but again improving. Getting better.

Tremendous improvement from last year
Course is in really good shape. 3 hours to play 18 holes, all the groups I encountered were friendly, played through five groups.
Fairways were nice and plush, greens a little slow but true, tee boxes looked good. Staff was super friendly.
