About
Nestled in the foothills of the north Georgia mountains, Sugar Hill Golf Club tumbles across elevation changes that range from subtle to dramatic. The course is artfully laid across the rolling hills, weaving through stands of mature trees, to provide it with the maximum level of challenge and the best views. The natural contours played a role in determining the placement of the bunkers around the greens and fairways as well as shaping the sharp doglegs. As if the golf course didn't already have enough challenges, there are also deep grass canyons and water hazards to contend with. The par-4 fifth and the par-3 12th are memorable water holes, both featuring large lakes that lurk in front of the greens. Sugar Hill G.C. is known as one of the toughest golf courses in the area.

Aerated means plowed
The greens were aerated a week before and we’re the roughest greens I’ve ever seen. It will take at least a month to recover, if they can.
Aerated greens
As others have mentioned the greens have been an aerated condition for some time and given how long ago we were told they were aerated it was disappointing that the greens were basically unplayable. Some other areas were under repair. That said the course is in a beautiful location and the staff were friendly. All around pretty enjoyable except for the greens.

Greens had been aerated so they weren't true. Very hilly course. It was a hot humid day with heavy showers, So a bit uncomfortable day.

A little disappointed today
I have played Sugar Hill many times and I always enjoy the course, but today was different. I generally play with my partner and my service dog, but today my partner had other business and couldn’t come… Therefore, it was just me and my service dog and the gentleman at the counter made me pay $10 extra for my service dog which is against the law! He stated that my service dog was taking up a seat that another golfer could use and therefore would have to pay.... when I fly, my service dog takes up a seat on an airliner and never has to pay because the law states that he does not have to… They had plenty of carts, so there was no need to be so precise… I did speak to the golf pro and he said I was correct, but no one offered my $10 back.

Just airrated the greens. Greens sucked. Would have been nice to know before I booked tee time. Couldn't get hold of pro shop by phone. Duffers coarse

OK Course With Some Problems
Decided to play an afternoon round at Sugar Hill on a sunny afternoon. Staff at register was nice. However the starter had zero personality and seemed like he hated being there. He didn't take our ticket and waived us on without letting us know that play started on the back 9. Didn't smile or say a word. Needless to say, we played 4 holes on the front 9 before a group asked us where we started. We stated we started on #1 and they had a cow. We had no clue from either the guy in the shop or the starter that we were supposed to start on 10. Anyway, we went back to number 10 where play was agonizingly slow. No rangers in sight all day. Course was in ok condition except for the 'dirt' traps in fairways and around greens. If ball went into trap, we just dropped out of trap. No point hitting in a trap with ruts and dirt. Too many blind shots on this course. Group behind us hit into us twice . You think as much play as they get, they would have enough revenue to at least put some sand in the bunkers. Doubt that I'll return.
