Sugar Hill Golf Club

About
Nestled in the foothills of the north Georgia mountains, Sugar Hill Golf Club tumbles across elevation changes that range from subtle to dramatic. The course is artfully laid across the rolling hills, weaving through stands of mature trees, to provide it with the maximum level of challenge and the best views. The natural contours played a role in determining the placement of the bunkers around the greens and fairways as well as shaping the sharp doglegs. As if the golf course didn't already have enough challenges, there are also deep grass canyons and water hazards to contend with. The par-4 fifth and the par-3 12th are memorable water holes, both featuring large lakes that lurk in front of the greens. Sugar Hill G.C. is known as one of the toughest golf courses in the area.

Great value for what you pay
Pleasantly surprised by the condition of the course compared to what we paid for a Friday afternoon. Pace of play was a bit slow but not painful.
Great course for an affordable round without country club expectations!
You get what you paid for.
You pay $65 including range balls and you get $65 worth. This course could be so much more and worth $75 - $80 with just a bit of extra maintenance. It's been an eternity since the cups were changed and none of the bunkers were raked. Jesus, simply change the cups when they are worn slap out and run a power rake in the bunkers once a week. It's not that hard. Another thing: warming up on totally shot "stretched astro-turf over concrete" is a good way to break a club or a wrist. They have a fair amount of grass area on the range but apparently they don't want to spend the money to keep it up. It's just good business sense to charge $10 - $15 more per round which would more than pay for these small improvements and make the round worth $75 - $80. It's another example of a poorly-run government facility.
Great Value
Course was in great shape and well worth the $36. There is a really tough stretch of holes on the front with demanding tee shots. I really enjoyed the challenge.
range is always out of balls, but the course is in great shape right now
pace of play painfully slow, almost 2 1/2 hours for first nine holes plus an extended wait on first tee so actually didn't tee off until 10-15 past scheduled tee time.
Course in good shape, friendly staff, good challenging layout especially from the back blue tees
