Tamarack Golf Club
About
Tamarack Golf Club is a course that will test your shot-making skills yet it is still player-friendly enough to appeal to all skill levels. Pete Dye designed the course with tight, sculpted fairways and undulating greens that come in a range of sizes. The layout offers plenty of challenges with water or sand coming into play on every hole. The golf course will test your accuracy but it is not as difficult as many other Dye designs. The third is one of the toughest holes. A severely undulating green protected by deep bunkers makes placement vitally important on this par 3. The 15th is one of the back nine's more challenging holes. It presents an interesting risk-reward opportunity with a myriad of teeing options. Water lines the entire right side and the two-tiered green is flanked with bunkers to the front and right.

Sadly I will not go back
This place was horrible, the worst I have ever had as a golfer of 25 plus years. It took me 6 hrs with a cart. The Mgr told the starter/pro shop guy to put our group on back nine and no more groups go off front at 840 am. So coming in to make the turn there was 4 groups waiting on the first tee number hole #1 I asked the guy what are you doing he said they have a team time on the first. This place was basically squeezing as much golf in
For the money. They had a league as well so stuck on the first tee for 35 mins and backed up every hole. Wasted my time and money for sure
Needs work
staff was friendly
Carts great shape
Tee boxes just shredded
Fairways unrepaired divots all over
Bunkers junk, rocks, no sand, cloth showing, mud puddles
Greens ball marks not repaired
Garbage under trees/bushes floating in the water.
Needs a lot of work
The rough was good if you are in it you pay the price.
The layout was fun and made you place your shots.
April Golf
Typical April golf wet and damp but warm enough to get in 18.
The clubhouse staff is very friendly; however, the clubhouse needs a refresh.
Felt good swinging outdoors again.
I’m a fan
I like this course. Conditions were pretty wet today but it was raining. Still played pretty nice other than getting much roll out. I’ve played her many times. I really like the way the course lay out. It mixes things up and doesn’t drag. It’s challenging for sure. Plenty of holes that will punish you if you miss the fairway. Good amount of fairway bunkers placed right in the average players danger zone. They keep the sand in good shape though, even today. I really like the home stretch. The last 5 holes are tough but fun. I always feel like I want keep playing when I walk off 18. Some pretty solid rates as well. If I lived a little closer this would probably be my home course.
Why even offer tee times??
I was able to reserve a tee time on the golf club website as well as golf now, so I make my tee time for 9:30am as I see they're wide open. It was cold and windy, but otherwise playable. I drive 35 mins to the course and my friend drives 45 mins to the course, only to find out the course is closed. How do I get a confirmation email the morning of my tee time (one hour before) and have the ability to even make the tee time, if the course is closed?? We were the only 2 cars in the parking lot. Actually there was a 3rd car, it was the chef who looked at us like we had two heads because we were literally the only people on the entire premises. Very disappointed in the golf club for even offering tee time, and even offering them on golf now.
Lots of water holes, target golf course, challenging
Par 5's challenges because it's very target oriented...ie, hitting to spots as opposed to blast driver and open fairways. Course is WATER heavy. I think water comes into play on 90% of holes. Tight course for the most part. Course in pretty good condition considering lots of rain in Chicagoland over past month. Tamarack has been offering excellent rates plus free drink with your round. That combo brings out a bunch of golfers. People do move along pretty good. Started on the back 9 and then cruised pretty good as I was fortunate to be spaced well. Definitely will play again. Hitting straight is vital or strategic draw/fades are very necessary.
underrated course
a little bit of a ride for us city guys but we keep coming back to this forgotten course. great price and good pace of play. nothing fancy here but well be back again
Very wet course today!
Course was very wet from heavy rains yesterday. Lost balls in sand traps because there was a lake in them. Very nice course. Fairways are a bit torn up and the heavy rains yesterday made them wet and muddy. Would love to try this courser again when it is dryer. Lots of sand traps and water hazards to work around. We enjoyed playing the course in spite of how wet it was.
Great Practice Putting Green!
Several fairways had water-logged areas (especially #12), even though other areas were very dry. Overall, course in decent shape. Greens were well maintained, staff very friendly, and practice putting green is ALWAYS the best in the area!!
Course continues to go down hill
I have played this course multiple times through the years, both with friends and in golf outings. Needless to say, they have gone the price route in that the course was in terrible shape today. I understand you get what you get for $20 afternoon green fees, but no marshals, no on course water, no cart girls, bad greens, terrible bunkers and concrete everything else. I highly recommend playing any other course uless your budget does not permit.
Tee boxes and greens in poor condition.
Sand traps.. if you call it that we're mostly rock, gravel and muddy water. Save your clubs.
Staff was very friendly and accomadating.
Course needs Major rehab.
Overall Great Course With A Great Price!
I have golfed here many times in the past few years. With the app GolfNow, I can play for $24 and sometimes cheaper if there is a hot deal. Now with a price like that, one would think that the quality of the round wouldn't be so good. On the contrary, the course was fantastic. Well kept fairways as well as fairly cut rough. The greens were not the best but they weren't the worst. Lot ball marks and debris from the trees that need to be cleared. Other than that, it is a truly remarkable course. The staff in the clubhouse was friendly, helpful, and understanding, which goes a long way for me. The pace of play was subpar as well. The tee times were back up when we got there. We had a 3:02 tee time, but didn't tee off until 3:20ish. I love this course, will be back very soon, and recommend it to any golfer of any skill-level!
Course is a bargain
This golf course is a great value, and is a challenging layout. The greens and tees were a little shaggy but it was an extremely hot holiday Sunday when we played.
