Tamarack Golf Club
About
Tamarack Golf Club is a course that will test your shot-making skills yet it is still player-friendly enough to appeal to all skill levels. Pete Dye designed the course with tight, sculpted fairways and undulating greens that come in a range of sizes. The layout offers plenty of challenges with water or sand coming into play on every hole. The golf course will test your accuracy but it is not as difficult as many other Dye designs. The third is one of the toughest holes. A severely undulating green protected by deep bunkers makes placement vitally important on this par 3. The 15th is one of the back nine's more challenging holes. It presents an interesting risk-reward opportunity with a myriad of teeing options. Water lines the entire right side and the two-tiered green is flanked with bunkers to the front and right.

Didnt let me play
Booked a time. Pre paid. Received confirmation.. pro shop said it wasnt on his sheet and he didnt care that I had a golfnow email.. said to call them and there was no room for the rest of the day.
So so
Booked a rate, which included a cart, only to get there and find it walking only. They don’t offer push carts. Course was in decent shape for March 1st.
December golf
Well maintained course in December in Chicago. Lucky to be golfing at all. Will be back.
Very nice course that was in excellent shape. Great value at only $30 played on a Friday. A lot of water on most of the holes, but plenty of room if you hit it fairly straight. The back nine had a few interesting greens with some big slopes, especially the last hole.
Nice Course and Value
Played a single and thru 9, pace was good and course is well maintain. On 11 got behind a 2some that wanted to take “their fair of extra shots”, which absolutely put my game in the gutter. Finally played thru at 15. Course excellent. Greens really good. Second cut in fairway, way fineable and payable. Looking forward to playing again for end of season.
Good Experience
The pace of play was terrible having to wait five to ten minutes on every tee box, but I played with a very nice young man so overall it was a good experience.
Value
Good value but the sand traps were in poor shape need more sand.
Good Value for money
Can;t beat it for $20. Greens have lots of ball marks and some of the traps can use some additional sand. Fairways in great shape Teed off on time and let a twosome through after that played at our own pqce with no one ahead or behind us.
Great carts
Loved the carts that are electric, nice and smooth with no noise. Staff even put ice in the cooler attached to the cart. A very nice feature when it is hot. No cart girl so stock up before you tee off.
Tamarack - Good course to play
I enjoyed my round. There are chances to lose balls with water in various spots of the course, so prepare for that. The overall course was in fine condition and the pace of play on a Sunday was about 4 hours. The only surprise I found was a request to pay an added $6.00 after being fully paid on GolfNow. as they claimed an issue with receiving payments through GolfNow, which I never had an issue before anywhere. I did not pay it and played. I contacted GolfNow afterward and they had no knowledge of any issue and were going to contact Tamarack.
Very well laid out. Pace of play was great for an early Saturday morning at just under 4 hours. Greens were decently fast. A couple stops on the fairways were very wet and a couple of the bunkers were unplayable due to either rocks or very compacted but did not hurt the round at all.
In need to serious attention
Tamarack is in dire need of a make-over. The course layout is challenging enough, but the overall conditions are terrible. Bunkers are mostly rocks with very little sand, most of which is hard as concrete. Fairways are in riddled with divots, greens look like the surface of the moon with ball marks everywhere.
Pace of play is brutal. If there's a course in dire need of a ranger, this is it. Count on 5-ish hours to complete your round.
I've played Tamarack a handful of times this year because it's in-network, close, and super cheap and it's progressively gotten worse every time. I really hope Arcis Golf spends a few dollars this fall and brings this course up to its full potential.
