Well Maintained, Good Value, Walkable
Played on a partly sunny day, little wind, and near 80 degrees, pace of play was fine (our group in fact needed to speed it up a bit). The greens rolled fast and true and seemed to get faster as the day went on. It was nice to play with a buddy who had local knowledge of some of the elevated greens (especially #13 short par 4 dogleg left) that have U.S. Open - type shaved roll-offs if you hit the wrong part of the green / trajectory, which I embraced as a fun challenge but others in our group felt was too clown-mouth.
I also liked they had an extra par 5 and an extra par 3 for 8 par 4s, 5 par 5s, and 5 par 3s, which allows for extra birdie opportunities.
The staff were friendly and helpful and I felt the price was a good value. Looking forward to playing the South Course next time I am in Portland area!
The clubhouse looks like a castle, some awesome architecture with pyramid gables.
Really swanky
This is a great venue and the course is immaculate. Probably the nicest course I’ve played in Portland. It’s too bad that they are seeing so much development around the course or I would have given 5 stars.
Professor, Music Theory Coordinator
We played the North Course. It is always impeccably maintained and a joy to visit.
Great first visit
Terrific first visit to The Reserve! We played the North course, 4 players in total (2 from our group and 2 others we didn’t know). Turns out one of them was a course marshal for The Reserve (John), he was incredibly friendly and provided insight into targets for some of the holes as we we unfamiliar with the intricacies of the course. Nick was the other player, and boy was he good. I’d guess a +4 to +5 handicap. Even with that, he was friendly and helpful (I’m not a good player, typically shoot from 18-28 over par).
Can’t wait to visit again, excited to try the South course as well! A+ to the staff and facility crew! Beer carts were out and staff was strict about not sharing a cart (COVID rules life).
Thank you!!
Great course and location
Very well maintained 36 hole golf course near the city. Friendly staff.
Always a great experience
Love both of these course. Even though they get a little more spendy this time of year than I would prefer, its worth paying the extra money for such a solid place.
Great Experience
After a previous bad experience at another nearby course with respect to social distancing, my wife and I decided to give this course a try. We were very pleasantly surprised by how seriously they were taking things to keep everyone safe. It helps that the North course is links style, so very open with plenty of room to have a great round of golf without being on top of each other. The course was challenging but fair, not gimmicky but will definitely be better the second time knowing how to play a few of the holes. Course was in outstanding shape and all the staff we interacted with were very friendly. Already looking forward to our next round!
Awesome Course
One of the better courses in all of the NW. I only get to play a couple times a year and has always been the North Course, but always enjoy it. When you really stare into some of the spots on the course, it looks better than it is, but 90% of it is very well kept.
One of my favorite course in Portland
The staffs are friendly. Course are in great condition. Pace of play was perfect, 3.75 hrs for the round.
Really really wet
We were on our way to Bandon Dunes so we had an extra day. We chose this course based on the reviews it was a total sloppy mess. We were losing balls a yard off the fairway. Our shoes were sinking almost an inch into the slop. It’s not the courses fault, the layout was great but conditions were horrible.
It would have been nice if the proshop would have informed us.
