Good course
Great course greens were fast but true, pace was good . Good value for the money.
Raiin, rain, rain
I booked on Golfnow for $18, then it rained. I was supposed to be in a foursome but I think the rain chased a lot of people away. I had not played in Orchard Valley in a couple years. I remember when the carts had GPS, and the course didn't seem as well maintained as I remember. I didn't do any warmup and hit the first tee. The first green looked slow, but the speed of greens was good.
There was a threesome ahead of me that seemedslow, so I skipped 3 and 4. I then saw a foursome of older gentlemen that were going to let me play through on 6 but I just skipped that hole too. I caught up to the next group when I went to 14. I waited for them to reach the green, since there was nobody immediately behind me.
The course was in pretty good shape. Tees were fine, greens were pretty good. This still remains a tough course but fun to play.
Orchard Valley Great Value
Excellent layout, well maintained. Pace of play was good.
Quality Round at the Orch Val
Played here on a Sat afternoon. Course was busy however we teed off at our exact scheduled tee time. Only problem was the round rook 5hrs 15min. Very slow play. Course layout might contribute to this slow down as the second hole is a long par 3 over water causing 2 or 3 groups backup.
Conditions were excellent from tee to green. Greens rolled fast and true. The practice green is very slow compared to the actual greens on the course.
Hot dog at the turn was delish thanks to a quality condiments bar.
Thank you for taking the time to provide feedback, we are sorry to hear that pace of play affected your round. It can be difficult to effectively encourage each golfer to play “ready golf” and in an effort to further educate these players we will be creating new signage to be prominently displayed both in the pro shop as well as on the first tee. We appreciate your insight and hope you will be back to play with us again soon.
Outing on a Sunday?
I love the layout, the condition and the value for money of this facility but I will never play there again. My 5:56AM tee time was a waste of time as a shotgun outing was put on holes 11 through 18 at 8AM and all of the early tee times had to wait for them to play. There were 2 foursomes inserted on every hole. The course clearly has no understanding of the reason behind early tee times.
We appreciate your feedback and are sorry to hear that your round did not meet your expectations. We understand that pace is a vital component of an enjoyable round and apologize that you were not satisfied. Our staff does its best to encourage everyone to be mindful and respectful of their pace even if they are part of an outing or tournament. Our goal is to provide a fun and enjoyable round for every golfer and hope you will be back so we can offer you a much better golfing experience.
Orchard valley
Very slow pace of play. Drunk guy in foursome in front of made it not fun. No Marshall around to move people along
We are very sorry to hear that certain aspects of your round did not meet your expectations. We do our best to patrol guests on the course for pace of play and etiquette and apologize if another guest disrupted your round. We aim to provide a fun and enjoyable round for everyone that plays our course and hope you will be back to play with us again soon!
Disappointing
A fan of this course and its layout from prior experiences, I found myself rather disappointed with the condition of the greens.. The condition of the greens was subpar as a high percentage of my foursome outta bounced it's way toward the cup.
Furthermore, the pace of play was brutally slow as there was no ranger presence, resulting in a 5.5 hour round.
However, as previously stated, I am a fan of the layout and the challenges offered by this track. For that reason, I would play this course again but with altered expectations.
Thank you for your feedback, as part of routine green maintenance we have recently slit seeded our greens. We apologize if your round was affected by pace of play, we do our best to encourage reasonable pace on the course and are working to promote speed slot tee times in order to allow guests to play at a quicker rate. We look forward to having you back to play again soon!
Excellent Course
Well-maintained, challenging course. Great mix of challenges bringing water and bunkers into play.
Great Come Back!
Wow, Orchard Valley has made a great come back, after being a disappointment last year! Eight of us played on Sunday at 4PM, two foursomes. The course is in great shape. We experienced excellent customer service from the staff in the pro shop (Adams & Steve) the cart girl, and in the restaurant (the Chef, bartenders, servers, etc.)! Check it out and join their email list (lots of specials & events) you will not be disappointed.
The course is playing better than in the last 2 years
The greens are finally back to normal after they had to replace some of them. Glad to see this course is coming back around to being one of the better public courses in the Chicagoland area.
We are happy to hear you are enjoying the course! Our team has made incredible progress on conditions and are glad to hear that guests are enjoying them. We look forward to having you play again soon!
Uniquely design course
This was my first time playing here and will be back for more. This is a challenging course with water on numerous holes that make you think of Florida or Hilton Head and then some holes with wastelands that reminds me of some desert courses in Arizona. The course was soft due to the recent rains but was very green. My reason for poor rating on pace of play was we stuck behind a really slow foursome that never let us play through.
We are thrilled to hear you enjoyed your round at Orchard Valley, our team has worked very hard to get the course into great playing condition and are very happy to hear it contributed to your experience. We look forward to having you back to play again soon!
Great Course
This is my third time playing Orchard Valley this year and I already have another tee time scheduled for next week. I love this course.
Prior to heading out for my first round there I had heard many complaints about the greens being in horrible condition. I have not experienced that at all. Everything was great.
We are thrilled to hear you enjoyed your round at Orchard Valley! Our team has worked extremely hard to improve the greens and is very happy to hear you enjoyed the conditions as a result. We look forward to seeing you playing the course again soon!
Great challenge!
Beautiful course with sufficient challenge for everyone. We booked A GolfNow Hot deal and found the value to be exceptional. The course is very well-maintained, and the greens are quite challenging. I'm looking forward to playing this course again soon.
We are very happy to hear you enjoyed playing at Orchard Valley, we appreciate your feedback and look forward to having you playing again soon!
Much improved course, GREAT VALUE!
I played here a couple years ago and although I liked the layout of the course the condition was bad from a rough winter. I'm impressed with how much better the condition is and with the same great layout it is one of the best values in the area. I've played other courses that charge more that are not as well conditioned with a lot less diversity in the layout.
Thank you for your feedback, we are thrilled to hear you enjoyed your round at Orchard Valley. We have worked hard to make sure our course is in good condition and our agronomic team will be happy to hear you are singing their praises. We look forward to having you play again soon!
Fair, good value
Fair course, excellent deal. Pretty far from the city.
Can be walked, but not the shortest walk between some holes.
We are happy to hear you enjoyed playing at Orchard Valley! We appreciate all of our guests feedback as it helps us improve the guest experience. We are glad you made the drive out from the city to play a round with us and hope you will return to play again soon!
Pace of play poor
Played on 7/3 at 8 in the morning following a group of 8 players play a scramble waited on every hole by the 5th hole there was already 1 hole open in front of the first group. Ranger did nothing except drive around the course. Took 5 hrs to play way too slow for a week day. Not entirely the management staffs fault but should monitored play. Course was in pretty good shape considering all the rain this season.
We are sorry to hear that pace of play affected your round at Orchard Valley. During days with very nice weather, we experience a higher volume of play than is typical for the course. We do our best to encourage each guest to keep pace on the course and apologize if you felt this was not effective during your round. In order to help speed up the pace, we are working on a few programs to encourage a quicker pace, without taking away from each guests experience. Our goal is to provide everyone with an enjoyable experience and we hope you will be back to play another round again soon, so we have the chance to offer you a better experience.
Horrible Pace of Play !
Played on Fathers Day and had to quit after 16th hole due to the round already being over 5 hours long and a large back up on the 17th tee. In driving to the clubhouse it appeared the 18 fairway and green was wide open. I find this pace of play unacceptable and did not see a ranger once during the entire round. Being that we live in the Northwest Suburbs and the commute is 50 minutes, I doubt a return to Orchard Valley is in the near future. We have always enjoyed coming here once or twice a year and felt the experience and track itself was worth the drive. But we will not be back until the "pace" problem is corrected.
I will say the greens which had poor reviews were in very good shape
We are sorry to hear that pace of play affected your round at Orchard Valley. We experience a high volume of players on weekends with nice weather, especially on holidays such as Father’s Day. We did have rangers present on the course throughout the day, and apologize if you felt they were ineffective in improving pace. We understand pace of play is an important component of an enjoyable round and understand your frustrations. We appreciate your continued patronage and hope you will be back to play our course again, so we can provide you with a fun and enjoyable golfing experience.
Rude and Inconsiderate Staff
A decent course ruined by rude and obnoxious course rangers and inconsiderate staff. The course rangers expect everyone to play at a professional pace, regardless of skill. Additionally, one of the course rangers actually told us that "ready golf" was to be standing at your ball, even if a player is hitting BEHIND you... I don't know about others, but never, ever stand in front of someone hitting a golf ball. The grounds staff regularly mowed the fairways and roughs while I was ON THE HOLE playing.
Orchard Valley should be embarrassed. Play this course if you want to be rushed and asked to play at the pace of a pro and risk having your ball run over by a lawnmower. I'll never recommend this course to a friend or family member.
We are sorry to hear you had anything less than a stellar experience at Orchard Valley. We understand that pace of play is an important component of an enjoyable round and apologize if our communication and enforcement of pace was less than desirable. Safety of each guest is very important to us and we would never intentionally place a guest in an unsafe place on the course. Our number one goal is to provide a fun and enjoyable golfing experience to each guest at our course. We would be happy to speak with you directly to further discuss your experience.
Overrated
The fairways were in pretty good shape, but the greens were not good and some of the bunkers were in bad shape. I want to like this course, but whenever I play it I say it is my last.
Thank you for your feedback. Our agronomic team has been working hard this season to make sure our greens are recovering and healing from recent Chicago winters. We are making progress each day and are optimistic about a nice recovery. We aim to make sure each guest has a fun and enjoyable golfing experience and we look forward to having the opportunity to welcome you back in the future so we can show you our progress!
Not the course it once was.
One of the best courses in the Chicago land area. My top five course is a former shell of itself. Still a great layout but the conditions are embarrassing. It has been this way ever since Billy Casper golf took over.
Thank you for your feedback, we apologize that course conditions impacted your experience at Orchard Valley. Recent harsh winters have affected course conditions, but our agronomic team has been working tirelessly to make improvements to the course, including recent re-sodding and other techniques. We continue to see improvements each week and look forward to better conditions this spring. As a management company, Billy Casper Golf works hard to make sure the guest experience is top priority at each facility. Please read more about this in the link below. We look forward to a great golf season and to welcoming you back to play again soon!
