Harborside has me so spoiled!
So I'm a new golfer and I was persuaded by a friend to join a league at Harborside. My first rounds of golf ever was here and now no other local courses measure up! It is breathtakingly scenic, extremely well-maintained and delightfully challenging. Be ready to shake a LOT of sand out of your shoes at the end of the round! The staff who coordinates the league is absolutely fantastic. The league leaders are fun, helpful & accommodating and the caddies/cart/bag drop team are always pleasant and quick to help. The clubhouse is nice and the food here is always fresh and plenty of healthy options.
It is a little expensive to play 18 outside of the league play, but totally worth it. If it was closer to my home, I'd be looking to buy some kind of unlimited play pass for this course. I love it.
A must play
Harborside Port was a great golf course. Demanding off the tees, with an abundance of bunkers to navigate. Great scenic views, and the ChicagoSkyline ever present. Fairways were fast and the greens were receptive and fast, with no unreasonable pin placements. Only hit a few balls on range, but they were complimentary with your green fee. Range was large and had many available flags at different distances. Overall, this is a must play golf course in the Chicagoland area. Only negative, a bit too pricey for retiree.
Course has great views and is resort quality.
Views were spectacular. Chicago skyline views from several holes. Back nine water holes were beautiful. Staff was better knowledgeable and helpful. Highly recommended this course.
Solid course close to the city
If you are looking for a solid public course close to the city for business/golf meeting great course for that.
another awesome round at harbor side
Love this course for sure top 10 chicago area course and top 5 for public courses.
Got a hot deal on the round and finished it in around 3 hours. Starter let me start on 10 so I would have no one in front of me.
Love the course and best part is that the greens are in great shape and roll true.
Recommend this course to anyone wanting to play a great round. Oh and don't hit the ball into the tall grass if you do just leave it you are not finding it.
Must experience
I am an avid golfer who likes to play different courses and Harborside International is one of these courses that you have to experience at least once. A great layout that is kept in great shape. Maybe it is a bit pricey but put it on your list of must try.
DHAZE13
Golfed the Port course, it's extremely difficult if you don't hit the fairways. Grass is very thick & dense outside edge of fairways and worse in hazard areas not to mention the numerous bunkers on most holes. Again, if you have difficulty hitting the ball straight, will prove most difficult to golf here.
Wow
Nice clubhouse nice practice facility great food a little pricey staff very friendly and helpful course was interesting and in great shape can't qait to play it again
Winds will make this a challenge
If they are calling for gale force winds like the day that I played, I would recommend a different course. This course is truly a challenge without the winds, but when the winds are howling over 20+ MPH, it can be brutal. Course was in immaculate shape for being so late in the season.
After aerating there should be better discounts
The course had just been aerated and the fairways were cut so short for October that the grass was 'burnt like' brown. Very odd to cut so low. Course was still challenging
Port Course
Both courses are great. Besides the greens being aerated, the course was in great shape. My only issue with Harborside is the condition of the bunkers. Please put more sand in them.
Nice experience
Dir GolfNow for $44 so based on that price Harborside is tremendous value on top notch course. Great shape friendly staff. Only downside was the pace...some slow groups in front of us and a few groups skipping holes to get ahead but this is not the Norm here. Really nice track
A nice surprise
I've been wanting to play this course for a long time. It was a sunny warm windy day and I had used a golf now discount code which made the course affordable. Fairly straight line layout with no surprises. The greens rolled fast and true, but there had been quite a bit of play and it seemed that maybe a few groups did not repair their pitch marks on the green.
Overall it was ok, I would play it again at a discounted rate but in my opinion the " rack rate" the have us overpriced by $30, it is a good $60 track but not a good $100 track.
Need to fix Carts
I played the Port course, but the GPS on the cart could not be switched over from Starboard. The Sandtrap was very packed to the point of being muddy. Other than GPS and Santraps the course was in excellent prime condtion.
Windy but fair
The course is always windy but it plays fair. Beautiful layout and very scenic. Probably the most beautiful course in Chicago that is open to the public. Bring lots of balls and keep it in the fairway.
A few misses
Overall good deal and good course. A little disappointed in pace of play. 5 hour round! If I paid rack rate I'd be a little more angry about it. I also didn't like that the ball/club washer on the cart was empty and in terrible shape. They also need more rakes for the huge bunkers. Wasted time finding takes.
Must play in Chicago!
I will play this course every year from now on! Totally worth the money. Course was in great condition, Greens were rolling true, and the staff was extremely friendly.
Gem close to Chicago
Challenging, beautiful and fantastic value. Greens are super fast. Takes time to adjust.
