Perfect greens, one of best practice facilities in the region.
This is one of the top courses in the Chicago area. The Port course has spectacular direct views of the entire downtown Chicago skyline from many holes. The 5 finishing holes are a visually stimulating thrill ride. The practice facility is one of the best in the Chicago metro area. Greens on the Port course were perfect.Tthe best I've seen anywhere this year. The Starboard course greens were being aerated this week.
The regular price is very steep, but bargains are available at low as $40 at certain times in the fall. Cart paths need fixing up.
Free yardage book very helpful
This beautiful links course allows you to use every club in your bag. Mickelson would love this course as the tough holes are tough and the easy holes allow for birdie opportunities.Large, true rolling greens make for an honest test of your game. Wind conditions make you think about club selection and flight path on every shot.
Nice Course, Greens Fees Somewhat High
The course was in great shape for the most part. The greens were a little rough on the back 9 of the Port course, possibly sue to an earlier outing that day. I think the course is excellent overall but regular greens fees are somewhat high. A normal fee should be around $65-$70 tops.
Great layout, great individual holes (especially last 4), and pristine conditions
It's everything you would want in a golf course: beautiful holes on the Port course, especially the last 4-5, perfect greens and fairways, challenging bunkers, and beautiful weather. For those of you who haven't played here, it ALWAYS plays windy, so be prepared. Even if it was 8 mph winds at your home, it will be 15 here, so come prepared.
The only negative, but significant, is there are no rangers anywhere, which means sloowwwwwww play. 5 hour round for us, during the middle of the weak, starting at 2:00 PM. The sun was down when we were putting on 18. They need to spend a little money to have people to keep things moving.
Bunkers were terrible!
Only problem with this course was the bunkers. Also the staff was so so. Felt like i needed to be a member there for them to treat me like a person. One bartender was really nice but the rest wasn't all that great.
I wouldn't pay $98.00 for this course again especially if the bunkers weren't in tip top shape.
Great course!!
This was a great course... conditions were impeccable, pace was good, greens were quick and rolled true. Great course and well worth the full price, if you get a discount tee time, take it!
Harbor Up
Hands down most challenging links course I have ever played. Also, truest links course I have ever played in Illinois. This course will tear you apart the first time; if you shoot under 100 you are playing well. Highly recommend playing this course when the wind is down, bc the lake effect increases projected wind to about double. With hot deals at $40-$50 in the afternoon.....enough said.
Good Course, slow play
Course was in great shape and with golf now deal it is well worth it. Only problem I have is we waited every shot. No rangers keeping pace going. The problem is the fescue. You hit your ball in fescue and think you can find it and you cant so you end up taking too much time looking. I wish they would cut the fescue lower in some spots to help keep up pace of play
still over priced great Chicago course
With so many great courses in Chicagoland, this out of the way course is in good to fair condition. But I have always thought that $90 is still way too much to pay for a course unless tee to green everything is pristine. And this course is no longer that way. But it is still a challenging course, and worth playing.
Great Chicagoland Course
I played the starboard side of the course, and had a great time. Can be challenging at moments but a great course to play.
Great course to play once in a while
The pace was amazing on a Sunday at noon - finished in about 4 hours. The course overall is in good condition, although the bunkers were horrible. Some great views throughout. Would not play on a regular basis, but maybe once a year would be perfect.
Challenging course, well-maintained, friendly staff, great value w/ golfnow discount
The Port Course that I played is a great lay-out. It is plenty challenging for me (hcp 14) from the blue tees. The course is in great shape even with the amount of play it gets. The practice facility has a driving range w/ grass tees, a chipping area and a practice green, all in good shape. The staff was friendly and accomodative. The restaurant needs some improvement in customer service
Great course
Great course, actually forgiving. Will return and play the right tee box, forced to play champion. Greens awesome, rangers kept good pace without being overbearing, overall well run course.
Courses are always great. Customer Service has always been an issue
The greens at Harborside are always some of the best in the area, this past Saturday they were as fast as I ever remember. The course, the proximity to downtown, and value ($50 twilight) is great. My only problem has always been the management; Why, if Golf Now says "you pay $50 at the course", do they charge $54? I don't recall this at other courses when Golf Now is used. I know Golf Now is aware of it, because a friend called to inform them of this previously. And the next day, I received an email from Harborside telling me "next time, waive the reservation fee and book your tee time directly with us." I never gave them my email address, they must have gotten it through Golf Now... seems a little shady.
I always got the feeling at Harborside, from the the first few times I played when they opened until now, that they were doing me a favor by letting me play there. The unbendable cancellation policy, the "range balls not included in twilight rate", the nickel & diming on the Golf Now fee... It's just annoying enough to make me want to write this.
.
The course was holding an outing that spilled over onto the Starboard course. Never did they tell me this nor would they let me move my time up when I asked if I could go out in front. They had open spots but refused to let me go out earlier. I've played everywhere in the US, was in Chicago for business, and this will be the last time I ever try to play there - highly disappointing.
Lush Links
Links style golf south of Chicago with American resort type conditions.
great experience very challenging had lots of fun
each hole had lots of character no hole was the same
It's just what the avid golfer is looking for...
Harborside is a great test for the avid golfer. 2 top of the line courses, the service is top shelf, this place never gets old. I 100% recommend!!
Great course; thinking golfer's course
Challenging course, greens and wind are not to be ignored,
Well defended greens
best public course in chicago
Harborside is a treat! i have played both the starboard and port courses and reccommend them both highly. The greens here are always true with immaculate fairways and bunkers. There are tons of bunkers here so be ready. When the wind is blowing, this course plays extremely difficult due to the links style setup. If you can find the fairway off the tee, birdies can be scored. chirp chirp!
