Great everything minus the "add 10 percent tax suprise"
Alway enjoy both courses at Harborside. It's normally in nice shape and pace is kept well in general. They decided to not add tax the advertised Golfnow rate. This is the only course that I have played that will charge you tax on top of the advertised rate. FYI.
It's a tough track. No trees, but plenty of brushes and sand traps. While playing next to the lake and having a beautiful view of Chicago.

Best practice facility in the area
Have played both courses sparingly as the $100 price is prohibitive but with the Golf Now discounted rate I will play here much more often.
Even if you can't play a round the practice facility is second to none in the area!
Harborside can be humbling
Great course. I played Port course. Its always a strong breeze from the lake playing tricks on your ball. always take one extra club...trust me
A Chicago Golf Staple
One of the top tier piblic corses in Chicago. Conditions are always solid and offers interesting holes including 2 outstanding par 3s on the back nine. A must play
Course was nice but way over priced
For $90 you usually get GPS carts and the whole deal this place was worth $50-$60 max especially for 18 on a weekday at 7:30am.
$90 is a rip off for this course
Harborside Port Course is FUN!
If you enjoy links style golf courses you will love the Harborside Port Course. The course was in excellent condition and the staff was friendly. The course is quite challenging and you definitely want to make sure you keep your ball in the fairway. Overall great course and I would recommend it!
The Port is a challenge - stay out of bunkers
At Golf Now rates this is an excellent value! Harbor side is a top notch facility, great practice area, very nice clubhouse and Excellent food - at $54 Golf Now rate I couldn't pass it up!
Great deal. Great course
Overall I was extremely pleased and would play again. Soon. I played Starboard and found it to be in excellent shape. I thought the greens were smooth and although not extremely fast, the ball rolled true. Starter was very friendly. Got a hotdog at the turn and it was very good! Cant wait to play again.
Harborside...it's no dump!
Big fan of Harborside here. The courses are challenging and always in fantastic shape. It was no different this time as from tee to green the course was perfect...the greens were very nice but they did have some bump to them, not from aerification but perhaps from lack of rolling...it was a little wet to be fair. Regardless, it wasn't terrible and overall I had a great time...Pace was fine, the pro shop staff didn't seem very interested but weren't rude. Terry, the starter, was great and so was the halfway staff and cart attendants. The practice area is outstanding, so much so I wish I lived close by to use it regularly. Had a great brat at the turn. My only gripe about Harboside is the location forcing me to navigate city traffic...other than that it is a beautiful facility that is always a pleasure to visit.
Starboard course was in excellent shape
This was a rare day with no wind out on the Starboard course which made it a very enjoyable round. The greens were in great shape and we really enjoyed it.
Fantastic condition, challenging, long, but pace of play needs to pick up
The course was in excellent condition and the tall grasses make the course extremely difficult. I would gladly come back to play the course again. The only issue I had was the pace of play was less than ideal, especially when on 18 we had 4 groups on the last hole.
beautiful course, close to city
i have loved the course since it opened. Its a trickier links style course with alot of trouble to be found, but keep your ball in play and you can eat it up.. course conditions are always beautiful and now finding it on golf now makes it more appealing.
Don't miss the fairways!
If the day wasn't 94 with 50mph winds (no exaggeration) I'm sure I would have enjoyed the course a bit more. Be that as it may, the greens were still impeccable, the fairways well maintained and well marked for distances. The added hole by hole overview booklet was a wonderful touch that helped me manage the course without GPS. There is NO water except on 17, but lots of sand. If you ball leaves the fairway the rough was thick, but there are patches of Fescue everywhere and you can forget it if it makes it there. With all the wind, you can see where that gets frustrating. Great course overall, just make sure conditions are right to play!
I had a nice day
There are two courses at Harborside, Port and Starboard. I play there once or twice a year. It is easy to get to, but a little pricey. This time I played the Starboard course which I found a little easier than the Port course. Starboard seems a little wider with less chance that your ball will be lost in the fescue which lines most fairways. There is lots of sand and I found the traps to be in excellent condition. I played on a Sunday just before noon and the pace of play was just right. There was no one pushing from behind and we only had to wait on the tee occasionally and not at all on the par threes. We finished in just over four hours. If the price were just a bit lower and the wind didn't blow all the time, I would play Harborside more often.
One of Chicagolands' best
We played the Starboard course which was in excellent condition. The courses here are challenging if one can't keep it on the fairway, but the layout is great fun.
Challenging course lacking in other areas
While the course was in fairly good condition and very challenging, the staff was unhelpful bordering on rude and misinformed. Our Golf Now tee time specified free range balls and GPS in the carts, neither of which was true. Everyone that worked there seemed like they wanted to be anywhere else. I would play again at the discounted twilight rate, at full rate, no chance.
Gorgeous Course
Great scenic course with Awesome views of downtown. We played in April for $50 and was in really good shape for early season. Once it gets up to $90+ per round, it is a little pricey, but worth it to play a couple times a year, especially being pretty close to downtown.
Windy City Golf
Harbor Side is a course that I have a love/hate relationship with. There are two very good courses (Port and Starboard - I played Starboard this round) to choose from with solid practice facilities. The tee boxes, and fairways were good. I think the grass for the greens is still waking up and the greens probably will need to be rolled soon. Today, the sand was consistently inconsistent: wet in some areas, mud-like in some areas and dry in others. Based upon past experience, this should fix itself. The waste areas on some of the holes are more small rocks than sand. The grass (I think it is fescue) that makes up the areas lining the holes has not come in yet and will begin eating balls once it does.
The location is a fairly easy commute from downtown Chicago. Because the course is elevated (I think it sits on an old land fill) and next to the lake, it seems like the wind is always blowing pretty well. Great view of downtown on some holes. I cannot remember any trees on the course.
The starters are friendly and helpful, the guys working bag drop and carts are decent chaps. The pro shop personnel are a little on the stuffy side.
Assuming you can finish, twilight rates are a great deal, otherwise you are getting an average to above average deal for full price.
Starboard Links
Enjoyed this course a great deal (except for the cold and the wind - which is obviously not their fault). But because it's a links style course near Lake Michigan the wind does BLOW. Even though it was still very early season and the grass had not yet fully greened up, you could easily see that the course will be in magnificent shape in a few more weeks. Lots and lots of sand. Par 3s aren't super long from whites. Interesting variety of holes. It's not always immediately apparent what line to take off the tee but the course does supply a nice printed hole diagram for yardages. Very large practice area/driving range. Friendly staff. I plan to go back.
