Starboard at Harborside International Golf Center

I wish I liked harborside more but after 3 rounds I just don't see the hype. There was so much clumpy cut grass everywhere. The tees, the rough, right off the green. Id be surprised if the grass below actually survives. The greens on the back were very poorly punched and some had as much sand as the bunkers. The practice greens were ungodly slow but the course was a bit faster. I booked a $35 hot deal, but would never pay the $122 weekend rate theres much better courses for that price.

Enough is Enough. Do something about it. The goose waste on the 18th hole is disgusting!!!! It's unhealthy and unsanitary. How does the Health Department not close the course for unsanitary conditions. There are too many good courses in the area to play through the ever present goose waste.

Don't get me started on the cart paths. For all the money they want to charge, fix the paths already.

Side note, they didn't mow the front 9 of Starboard all week, felt like US Open rough, really killed pace of play.

This is a beautiful course and layout. Very challenging when windy. The course is getting run down. All of the cart paths are destroyed and should have been replaced years ago. The rough was cut and all of the grass clippings were just left to decay. It ruined the look of this beautiful course and made finding balls off the fairway difficult. The groundskeeper is doing a poor job. For close to $100, it should be maintained better.

Realize that we’ve had a lot of rain but there was so many extra grass clippings clumps all over the course and where the grass was cut the rough was three and 4 inches long which made it almost completely unplayable if you were off the fairway. Playing there yesterday was a complete disappointment

It’s been a long time since I last played Harborside International golf course. I played the Starbord course to enjoy the water views. Where to begin:

The course is long, and after so many years I decided to play from the white tees. While slightly under 6000 yards, these tees still offer a challenge requiring straight shots and thoughtful club selection on the tee.

The length was exaggerated due to the recent rains and a “ cart path only” requirement. Note well that the carts are equipped with an automatic shut off if you deviate from the path for any length. You can still get a workout by having to walk from the path to find the ball, walking back to get a club ( or change clubs if the lie dictates), and then walking back to the cart.

One problem area was the length of the rough. There were many ( the majority) of spots where the rough was 4-6 inches long. No joke and no exaggeration.

The round was overall very positive. You have to pick your shots and practice patience on this course. The shot values vary from the occasional forced carry on the par four 14th hole, to the very short par three 4th hole ( that I birdied!). The green complexes are straightforward and have really subtle breaks that are “par stealers”. While there are elevation changes, they are not dramatic (like the Port course).

The staff are friendly, well trained and attentive. And yes, if Harborside is going to keep the cart paths in their current condition, they really need to hire a Urologist for kidney treatments after the round! I jest but the paths could use some smoothing out.

I had a very good round at Harborside. You will too, if you play to the the course and not to your ego.

Played on a Wednesday so not real busy; mated with a lovely couple who I caught since I was single. Course was in good shape except some brownout spots. Green were in good shape but firm. Hard to get ball to stop even with lofted wedges. Had a great time on front nine, quick pace which I love but slow on back nine; never quite sure what was hold up except for gamblers two groups ahead. Will definitely return in the near future

Championship style course that makes you feel like you’re playing a links style course on the ocean

Worth every penny! But the cart paths are terrible...smh
