South Shore Golf Club
About
South Shore Golf Club was formerly a private nine-hole course but now it is part of the Chicago Park District Golf collection, which features five other courses. Although it is seemingly out of the way, tucked in the southeast corner of the Chicago metro area, it is one of the most affordable rounds you'll find in the area. Through the stands of mature trees, golfers can catch glimpses of Lake Michigan. The carefully preserved landscape has earned the golf course recognition as an Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary. The par-33 layout features tree-lined fairways and small greens. It's a golf course that requires accuracy but it's not overly punishing for high handicappers. South Shore Golf Club is a great course if you're looking to get some short game practice or squeeze in a quick round.

A beautiful day in the neighborhood
Love/hate this course. It makes you understand what strategic play - ball placement is. Going back to keep working
Upgrade
I delighted to report the Chicago park district has invested in a new practice facility and sprinkler system. It's a real plus for the overall experience. When all repair work has grown over the damage caused by construction it will be an even better 9 hole course
Risky Course if you Slice
Course conditions were good and staff was very friendly. No range and no practice green was brutal. If you slice your tee shot, you could easily hit a car, person or building every single hole which is stressful. And they have a sign that says you’re responsible for any damage, etc. which also adds to the stress.
Great Value
I love this course because it’s right near the lake. Friendly staff and course is in great shape. Can’t beat the price!
Nice hidden gem
The fairways and greens were in really good shape. Other players kept up pace of play and was very friendly. would definitely come back due to the value.
Need higher fences
My only complaint is that the fences butting the eastern face of the course onto the road. My slice went way over into the road but it was only 20ft in the air -- I'm just glad I didn't hurt anyone/anything
Getting worse
Starter, again, super negative and spent more time hitting shots than keeping pace of play up. Worst pace of play I’ve ever experienced.
A classic Executive Country Club Course.
On the Lake and gorgeous! One of my favorites. It is an executive course and easily walkable. Old style!
Old time executive country club on the shores of Lake Michigan.
I love this place and I've been playing there for years. It is very historic in Chicago and playing on the shores of Lake Michigan is a joy. The clubhouse is beautiful and there's
a great restaurant that's open a couple or few days a week.
