Fox Run Golf Links
About
Fox Run Golf Links opened in 1984 but over the past two years the course underwent a major renovation that made the layout both more challenging for serious players but also more forgiving for the recreational golfer. The multi-million-dollar renovation included enhancements to the hole layouts, redesigning the bunkers, installing a new irrigation system, and creating new practice and chipping areas. Water comes into play often throughout the golf course and you'll find elevation changes on nearly every green. The water holes will be especially tough if you have a tendency to slice the ball. Thanks to the varied layout, which includes some holes that are wide open and others that are more target-style golf, you will get the opportunity to work on different types of shots. Fox Run Golf Links is a challenging but fair test that players of all skill levels can enjoy.

Decent Course
Was able to get out on a Sunday morning in April for $50, cart included. Course was in good condition. After reading Yelp reviews, I was worried about what we may face in terms of staff on the course. I can say there is definitely a staff presence on the course, but the worst we had to deal with was a ranger telling us to please keep the carts on the cart path near the greens (I had parked on the grass directly to the side of the cart path to avoid jumping the curb). He was matter of fact about it, but I didn't mind. I also don't mind the staff being on the course to speed up play, if it's needed. So many courses out there that don't do this, and it bothers golfers (myself included).
My only gripe is that a number of holes are built on top of each other. You need to be paying attention a lot to wayward balls. One member of our group had a ball wiz within two feet of him. It's not fun being hit by a golf ball. Also, there was no cart girl the day we were there. There was a sign posted though in the pro shop, so we knew before teeing off.
All in all, a nice course. I was pleased with it, being my first time there. I would play it again.

New course design made course much more user friendly
Course was in very good shape
Greens in great condition
Still some boring holes, but improvements at 18 to name one, definitely makes for a return visit
Staff was very nice also, keep up the good work FoxRun
good geens
nice course greens are good
Sunday @Fox Run
Good value for the day of fun golf. My friend told me about this course and we enjoyed it
nice course
Good challenging course with great greens. Only complaint is that the pace of play was very slow. 4 hours and 45mins and we still weren't able to finish the round due to darkness.
positive experience!
The Fox Run golf course is in excellent condition. The fair ways and greens were well maintained.
Good value
Good value, not a walkiing course, could use some more road signs, somewhat challenging with some interesting water holes and greens were faster than I remember them last year.
Review
should dig out all the fairways and put in bentgrass. Need to replace all asphalt cart paths. Need to clean up all ponds and streams. Need to go electric with their golf carts. Would be very cool if they could design a second story deck over looking practice green.
Keeps Me Coming Back
Tee time: 2:24 on a Friday ($32).
Fox Run always keeps me coming back. It's a good course for the value. Pace of play varies. Sometimes you can finish in under 4 hours and other times it may take north of 5 hours. During our last outing I noticed that the greens were a little beat up (please fix your divots). Fairways are good. Yes, some of the holes are bland, but there are interesting ones as well. I like the challenges presented by the creeks that cut through the course. The GPS system on the carts is plus, however I would like to see them upgrade to something better. Fox Run is the course to turn to if you're looking for a reasonable round of 18.
Fox Run
Course was in great condition considering how hot and dry the weather has been. Greens were smooth and consistently quick. Carts were painfully slow though.
Very Well Maintained
As always, I judge a course-itself by 4 things... greens, bunkers, cart-paths, and fairways. The greens are simply the best greens for a public course in the Chicago-area... almost no divots or brown spots anywhere makes putting enjoyable and the grass around the greens is well-maintained for fun wedge shots. Most of the bunkers are soft fluffy sand and always raked after usage (players are courteous). The fairways are in great shape with no dead grass or muddy areas and well-groomed along the sides/first-cut. Lastly, the carts have GPS and the cart-paths are paved and enjoyable to ride along on with some small pot-holes that should be filled in here and there, but not much (not too concerned tho).
The most enjoyable part of the course were the Rangers and starters. They were very knowledgable about the course layout and when to use particular clubs on certain holes. They were also courteous and when we asked if my 3-some could skip ahead of the 5-some ahead of us, the Ranger said he would take care of everything and not to worry. Sure enough, at the turn we were informed to move ahead of the 5-some, which was very nice. The Ranger even sent the cart-girl back to us after we missed her while putting. That was nice.
Overall, best public course under $50 in the Chicago-area... hands down. Interesting holes with just the right amount of water and sand. For the end of August, you can tell management cares about the upkeep of this course.
I want to play here again before it starts to get cold out.

Snails pace
Book a 10 am tee time. Got off fine but after the 1st 2 holes the course seemed like it came to a halt. On average we waited on every tee box. Made the pace of play extremely slow. In fact the finishing hole we waited 5 mins to tee off and another 5 for 2nd shot. the guy we played with left before the 18th due to this. When we finished the rangers where talking about how off pace some 4some where. Normally the course is played at pace.
Fair Track
Nice little course. Nothing flashy, not long but calls for accuracy off the tee and a couple tight holes on the back. Course plays fair and was in really nice condition. Fees were $40 w/cart and that's a fair deal. Staff was friendly and accommodating.
Good course, short but tough layout, in great shape
Great deal on the round+cart+GPS. Course was in great shape, greens were smooth, and quite fast.
Short course, max of 6400 yards, and 4 sets of tees to make it playable for all. But there are some hazards that are not fully visible from the tees.....GPS unit only gives yardages to green. I wish I had a yardage book for a couple of the holes. On the 10th, we were glad to have a marshal who explained the split fairway and associated yardages. Could have used that help on a couple other holes, as no one in our group had previous experience there.
Good Course
Had to stay on cart path due to wet course. I have a bad back and if I would have known before I got there would have canceled. Had to walk to much.
Great overall experience
The course was challenging, just enough traps and water . The greens were tough, and the course was in remarkable condition. The staff was second to none in help and communication considering it was a holiday.
Fox Run
The course was in great condition. Stuck behind women's golf league. We waited on every shot. Round took 5 hours during the week! Couldn't get any ryhtm in game. Shoot, then wait.Would try again when league is not ahead of us.
