Great Cook County Forest Preserve Course
Great value course. No homes to deal with only deer in the fairways and great to watch with other wildlife
Nice landscape but maintenance lacked
Highland woods is a beautiful course, but there are 3 issues i have every time i play. #1) Golf carts are rickety and need to be worked on. they sound and feel like they are falling apart, #2) The bunkers have so many rocks in them that you WILL hit them each and every time you hit out of a bunker. #3) The greens are always so torn up. nobody seems to fix their approach mark and no groundkeeper goes early morning to fix it.
Good Course - Pace of play slow
Highland Woods is a fun track in the cook county course portfolio. Price was great, pace of play was just so-so. Once summer ends that may change. Rangers/starters really need to stress players choose the correct tees.
Good day
Pace was good. Kept up. Not rushed.
Course in good shape.
Nicely wooded old style course
Played on a humid Friday afternoon and having played here before know what to expect. With all the recent rain, the course was very green and lush. The bunkers were hard enough that I chipped out of a couple rather than blasted. The greens were a little slow but in good condition. This park district course has lots of trees and some water hazards and no home intruding on the boundaries. My only complaint would the the limited choice of tee boxes - 6,800 from the tips, 6,500 from the middle tees, and 5,830 from the close (ladies?) tees which we played and was plenty long for our group. They need another set between 6,000 - 6,200 yds, and a shorter set for woman.
They have a decent driving range, a chipping green, and a putting green to warm up.
Nice course. Greens need some love
I really enjoy this course. I’ve only played it twice but it’s a good course to score on. I noticed a lot of ball marks on the greens that could be repaired. Perhaps they can have one of the workers pick a few greens each day and start fixing them? It will make them much smoother and more fun to play.
