Legendary Course but not maintained
This was once one of the best Clubs in the south suburbs. Unfortunately it will probably disappear in another year. The bunkers are not maintained, the fairways are bare, Tee boxes are not well marked and not manicured. Such a shame. You can’t get food, not even a hot dog. I’m glad I got to play the course cuz it’s a gem. Someone needs to come in and give it some TLC.
Country Club Value
Course remains in good shape… greens quick, fairways solid. Good pace of play… 18 holes 3.25 hours on a Saturday afternoon. Highly recommend.
Beautiful Donald Ross Course. Nice tight fairways, with 3-4" lush rough.
Fast greens and sand traps had plenty of soft sand.
Much better condition as compared to last year.
Some tee boxes were beat up pretty bad, but overall worth the 60 mile drive to get to a fine old style course.
Good value for money
Took 15 minutes to check in since there was no one at front desk (may have been an anomaly). Other than that, can’t beat 18 holes with a cart for ‘fire’ deal of $23. Course fairly well maintained. Nice to get out for a round on a great day!
Goodbye CCC
This used to be a very nice golf course but it appears management has decided to let it go. The course is in very bad shape but because it’s in such poor shape there weren’t very many people there. So the pace of play was actually very good.
Pretty good…
Nothing in particular blew my socks off about this place outside of the classic Donald Ross design. There’s a lack of facilities - no snack bar, no drink cart. It was very hot today and we certainly would have bought at least one round of cold drinks.
The course has a fantastic, classic design and that alone is worth the trip. But conditions are dicey - tee boxes are infested with crab grass, the bunkers weren’t groomed, and the greens were a bit choppy.
But the price was certainly right. I would like to see an overhaul to bring the facility back to where it should be, but that’s unlikely as I’m sure the cost would be daunting. There’s also the impending demolition of the course to make way for a shipping/trucking depo so it remains to be seen if remaining a golf course is even in the cards.
The bottom line? Play it for a glimpse of golf’s heyday and for a gander at a Ross layout because it may not be around for long. Bobby Jones played here, for crissakes!
Calumet C C
Luckily we got a hot deal because I would have been extremely dis appointed if we paid full price. Tee boxes and fairways are in very poor conditions. Only 1 staff member did we see the entire day.
Challenging Course
Challenging but fun. One has to be a precise golfer to master this one. Lots of bunkers and long par 3s. But it challenges every club in your bag. I hope they keep this course going amidst the rumors. It is a beautiful place to play golf.
Well Taken Care of Golf Course
Excellent greens and fairways! Also a very nice driving range.
