for $34, it’s hard to beat.
the tee boxes are not great, and the rough is pretty uneven, but the greens were largely rolling nicely and well cared for as were the fairways. playing this old donald ross track as many times as i can before it sadly gets plowed under in the near future.
Nice layout but needs some TLC
First tune playing this one private course. Nice layout, but tee boxes were very weedy and beat-up, fairways were dry, traps were not maintained, greens rolled true and were in good condition.
Great value, classic design.
Sure, there’s some crabgrass on the tees, the clubhouse is mostly closed, but for the money, you’d be hard pressed to find better value / course design in Chicagoland. Funny that people online complain about BYOB. Wake up people! I hope this becomes the new norm!
Great layout
Could be better maintained. Real challenge to play. Lots of fun will be back.
We had a very good time on a challenging course..l hope Calumet CC can continue on and represent the great courses that were around the South Suburbs long ago.
Not what it once was
Though I still enjoy playing this course it is not what it was when it was private. The course is in ok condition but weeds and dead fallen trees are things you never use to see and the traffic noise from the expressway is deafening.
Great course
Awesome course. Challenging for someone at my level. In pretty good condition. The only thing I could complain about is I only saw 3 employees working. Two people in the golf shop and one guy cleaning the carts. The place felt like they were going out of business. Which I hear they are, but oh well. I’ll probably play there again before the season is over.
Best value around
Classic Donald Ross course that may not be here too much longer it seems. Tough traffic coming from the city but take 57 to 80 and get off at Dixie Highway. 1 turn. I would call Jackson Park my home course but this one is my favorite public course. Some fairways and greens are a little chewed up in spots, but no gimmicks or fountains, just great layout and course. Made par on 5 for the first time from the blues. 215 yard par 3, hard left to right wind to an elevated green with a carry over water.
