Not worth it
We played on a Thursday afternoon and the pace was not bad until the group in front of us stoped at the halfway house eating lunch and having drinks while the course got backed up. No point in having rangers drive around if they aren’t going to enforce pace of play or do anything. Also the greens are a mess now that it’s public ball marks are everywhere, bunkers were washed out and had no sand. Definitely not worth the $70!!!
Great course, country club feel
You pay a little more but, it is worth it! Excellent course, well maintained, tight tree lined holes, kind staff, rangers out and about to ensure solid pace of play.
HItting it straight or playing to your strengths will help a lot on the course. You don't need 250-300 yds off the tee....190-230 yds will put you in good approach angles. Sand bunkers very deep (99 bunkers in total - we played with previous course employee).
Course has lots of undulation in fairways and greens can be tough depending on pin placement. Signature par-3 hole had pin on top of turtle-back - tough.
Course (like others around it - Calumet, Coyote Run) built 1901 - how cool to play a course over a century old! The original shack clubhouse is still out there. Just appreciative of the history and uniqueness of course!

This track is a work of art. Every Donald Ross feature was present and in great condition. I was a member of Pinehurst CC for 25 years and this is the best Ross course I played except for No 2.
If I had to find fault (difficult at best) I would say the greens are a little slow...let the ball run off to "Ross' Revenge as I call it.
The Staff is great and very friendly and the owner (never met him) take great care with this great course.
For what it's worth I am 86 and shoot my age most outings.

Interesting Ross design
Fairways were top notch. Greens consistent but slow. Bunker sand was ok but the faces of bunkers had weeds and crabgrass. All over the faces. Nice pro shop. Starter was friendly. Verbally I’d go back.

Like a Country Club
Everything was just fabulous except, and it’s possible they didn’t cut the greens that morning, but the greens were as slow as I’ve ever seen @ Ravisloe

Sand
Beautiful course and beautiful facility. Everything was maintained very well, especially for a public course in this area. The best part was that the sand was the best I’ve seen in Illinois in a long time, which is important because there is a lot of sand. Overall, a fun and challenging course with small greens that are all protected by sand/hazards.

Outstanding experience
Ravisloe has been on my list of courses to play for years. I was not disappointed. Excellent course. Friendly staff. Pace of play less than 4 hours for a 9:40 AM tee time. A fun course o play.

Great value
One of the best values in Chicago. Well placed trees and bunkers make the course fun to play. Bunkers are in great shape. Course rewards good well placed shots.

Really well preserved and well kept classic private club
My son and I played early on a Monday AM…we played in 2:40 hrs and another 2-some walking in front of us let us play through. I caddied there 45 years ago, so it has sentimental value to me. The course is a really sporty classic golf course and very well kept…greens were a bit slower than usual there but rolled true. Fairways were very well cared for. Bunkers in pretty good shape, tho a bit inconsistent like many of the courses around the Chicago area. Very nice clubhouse from the old private era. We played from the tips (of course), and I would say that at slope of 130, the track is a bit under-sloped at 130…should be 132-134 IMHO. All in all very enjoyable somewhat hidden gem in far south burbs. Highly recommend!
