Ravisloe Country Club

I had the pleasure of playing Ravisloe Country Club on 09/30/20, with another friend. It was the second Donald Ross course I have played in two weeks and Ravisloe did not disappoint. The greens were smooth, slick, and rolled nicely. The subtle breaks made the greens fun, but hard to read. The location of some bunkers gives the illusion that they are closer to the greens, than they actually are. The whole course was in very good shape and played fair. The par three distances, on the day we played it, ranged from 215 yards to 135. The indoor and outdoor staff were extremely friendly and professional. I really enjoyed playing this course and I will definitely play again.

Interesting course layout, with a good variety of hole designs and very good bunker positions and designs (small traps with mounds around them).

But the course conditions were fair at best. The greens had lots of ball marks and were shaggy. Many of the fairways were wet, even though there had been no rain for a week (very frustrating to hit a big divot because of overwatering). The cool traps had little sand. And most of the par 3 tees were more divot than grass.

If I had paid more than $49 for a weekend afternoon I would have been more upset, but after hearing many good things about this course I doubt I’ll drive down from the city to play it again.

Normally Ravisloe is in great condition but this time many tee boxes were in horrible shape and the greens were beat up. The course definitely needs a little TLC.

Played this course many times and it’s always a pleasure!!

Will become my mainstay next year. A few too many marks on the green (players not course). Greens rolled true. Great pace. Staff was phenomenal both times EXCEPT this time when I dropped off the cart we weren’t even acknowledged. Was disappointed after such great service in every other aspect. Starter and pro shop staff were amazing.

Area had suffered heavy rains the night before and yet the course was still pretty dry. Ravisloe is well kept with lots of mature trees, small true greens and wicked deep traps that make for a good challenge. Mostly positive experience there. The traps could use a fresh fill of new sand, their difficulty is compounded when your club hits the clay/dirt below. Was disappointed that we were not able to take carts out for the first nine holes after paying for 2 carts through the GolfNow website.. The course was not able to adjust the $ total. except for noted exception of the bunkers, the course is in excellent shape. They are starting to price their tee times out of my comfort level, considering the number of good options available in the area.

I still get excited to play here. I love overall feel of the place. I still remember reading about this place going public. I couldn't wait to play here.

Very challenging well bunkered course.

I seen the course in a new light today and realized wy I like it so much. It reminds me of a Langford & Moreau.

The greens are less elevated, but the bunkering and mounding has the same feel. While the course lacks much elevation change. It is very walking friendly.

On to the review.

Pace Of Play -

Pace was excellent today , as the course did not open until after the heavy rains had drained off. Our group was one of the 1st to tee off.

Course Conditions - Course was in great shape in spite of the heavy rains. Bunkers are some of the best in the area. Thought the greens were rolling slow, but it was wet.

Staff Friendliness - Most of the staff I encountered was relatively new. They were pleasant. The rangers seemed a bit edgy

Value For The Money - Value was good today, but this course caters to the higher end golfer.

Course Layout - Well designed course has plenty of challenges for all but the most demanding golfers,

fun and fair.

Off-Course Amenities - Nice patio and bar area

The menu and drinks are a bit pricey.

Play them all you can.

This may have been an exclusive course at one time but it’s pretty tired now. Tee boxes were in rough shape. The clubhouse is pretty run down. This course is not worth what they’re charging.
