Ruffled Feathers Golf Club

The layout of this course is awesome and the conditions are good for this time of year and for the price. It gets some bad reviews from the condition of the bunkers,which do need some work,but overall,course is in very nice condition and for this price point,you can’t beat it. Staff was very friendly from the club house to the starter and pace was very good considering every tee time was booked from open until 2 pm. I will be back here again!!

I played there with two of my sons and one of the son’s girlfriend who is a LOGA professional. I’ve lived in 2 homes on the golf course over a 30 year period before moving to NW IN 2 years ago. and have played it probably 1500 rounds over the years. I’ve seen it in many different conditions under various management since its beginning. I have to say that the course is as close to as great a condition and the clubhouse has been renovated in a way that it is just about as great as it’s been since the earliest days when it was first created as a private club in the early’ 1990’s. It was really manicured well especially with cutting back the pond grasses. Hardly any divots in the fairways. Only thing is it had rained pretty hard for a couple of days before we played and the bunkers were water logged in some cases. New golf carts…overall experience was excellent…I give tons of credit to whoever the new manager and superintendent are, because it is a great track that has been given the quality attention it deserves. The kids and I have played the best public and private golf courses in the country, and for the money, this course holds its own. Not sure why there are naysayers reviewing here…

No sand in traps. Just mud.

Greens were aerated which is expected this time of year. Issue is no sand put on greens and just holes so putting was impossible.

Just really neglected.

Very slow, only played 9, 10 tee box had 4 groups waiting to tee off!!!

This course is worn out! Sand traps are in desperate need of repair, no sand in some, water in others, some just dried out dirt, all unplayable. Cart paths are like riding on a bump test track as a result carts leave paths right off tee and are destroying fairways. Clubhouse while very nice was empty no customers, no bar that I could find (everyone likes a beer after a round). What was a beautiful course has become a travesty due to poor management.

I hadn’t been to RF in about 10 years. I can’t believe how they have let this course deteriorate. The bunkers are mud with no rakes. The started told to play as Ground under repair. Greens have been punched…big holes not filled with sand. Divots everywhere and no sand on the carts to fill yours in. Geese poop everywhere on the greens. Pro shop virtually empty. What an embarrassment. Disgrace to Pete Dye.

Played today and I cannot believe they’re charging $73 on a Wednesday in October, after they aerated the greens on Monday. The course is a shell of what it used to be. The sand traps are an embarrassment. Not a single trap had sand in it, along with standing water in a few, and several that looked beyond repair. Tee boxes were chewed up, and the fairways were ok. The greens aside from being recently aerated, still had ball marks that golfers were not repairing. The marsh areas the course had looked as though they’ve been drained and are now overgrown with weeds, along with them cutting down a lot of the trees that used to be on the course. Cart paths are in desperate need of repairs. I cannot believe this course charges what it charges. The on course bathrooms are in disrepair. The clubhouse looks like they did some renovations in there, but the pro shop now has tables and chairs in it to eat. There’s a single register surrounded by merchandise. I don’t know what’s going on in there, but the dining area looked closed and had nothing in it. Save your money and go else where. It’s the only Pete Dye in the area and Arcis, the company that runs it, has ruined it, hopefully not beyond repair. Arcis has ruined this course along with Fresh Meadows and Tamarack. Pete Dye would be rolling in his grave if he could see the current conditions of the course.

we knew we were in for a long day when we got to #2 tee box only to see the foursome in front of us waiting on the tee. Not their fault. We called the club house. Never saw a ranger…..all day long. 5 minutes shy of a 5 hour round. Yeah, the $50 rate for seniors that includes a hot dog brings them all out. The course can play difficult if you pick the wrong tee box. Completely ridiculous pin placement on 5-6 holes didn’t help the situation. But no excuses for not playing ready golf and/or spending exorbitant time looking for balls. The course is just not being ‘managed’ properly when there is no one out there ‘shepherding’ folks. One player in our group left after 9 holes but not before getting ‘rain check’, so the pro shop was aware of the problem out there. Still no improvement on back 9. A nice layout but not worth spending half a day standing around.

We played an on/off rainy round with downpours at times. Course was in great shape! Forgot it was a late September round. Would love to go back and play! Top 10 course in the state!

Overall the course was in very good shape — other than the sand traps which were pretty bare and packed down. Actual distance was much shorter than scorecard— all tees seemed to be pretty far forward. Pace of play was a little slow but not unusual for a Saturday.
