Greens are ridiculous
The course layout is great since the remodel but the greens are ridiculously hard. There are at least 3 tiers on each green, and, if you're on the wrong tier, good luck. They've made the greens way too hard for the average golfer. I probably won't play there again. It's unfortunate because the rest of the course layout is good
Peewee golf greens
First we got the senior rate for $40, two of us were seniors the other two were not still got the rate. No one asked for ID. Two days earlier it rained, course decided to make it Cart Path Only. Only one hole out of 18 was the fairway wet. The rest could of handled a 90 degree. The workers were on the fairway with heavier carts than ours. The course is short but what makes it difficult are the undulating greens. Up and down the ball rolls. Lag putting is at a premium.
Greens are a killer
The course is great shape and beautiful. The round on a Sunday afternoon took 4:55. I think it's because the greens are so hard most average golfers are taking 3 or more putts every time.. I like the course put will not be my first choice because of the greens and pace of play.
very green pretty golf course
live right down the street I love the reinovations. What a practice facility. nice neighborhood traditional late out thoroughly enjoyable.
Fun and interesting course to play
I've played this course many times this year and have really enjoyed it. The course layout and routing is different from 3 years ago and I think it's an improvement over the old course. The new layout allows for many different clubs off the tee. Landing areas are liberal on all the par 4's and the par 3's vary from very short to long. The key to playing this course well is having a good short game and a sharp putter. The greens are tough and are really the only defence this course has. Some of the greens are severe with multiple levels so where you place your approach shots are important. The staff is always friendly and has always found a way to fit me in late in the day. Overall , the course is a lot of fun to play and I highly recommend it.
Crown Jewel
My friend and I played Mt. Prospect yesterday and couldn't be more impressed.
The course was immaculate during a time of year when other courses tend to let
things go. We are both retired and play 3-4 times a week. So far, we have amassed
over 60 rounds for the year and have, mistakenly, ignored Mt. Prospect. I golf in a men's league with many players from Mt. Prospect who have given me negative remarks about the renovations and changes to the course. Knowing how they play in our league and having played myself yesterday, I realize they are just not good enough to enjoy the challenge of a well thought out tract. Kudos to the design team! My friend and I have added Mt. Prospect to our preferred "hit list". Thanks to a very friendly staff and all who made my visit memorable.
Solid course
Great remodel, in decent shape for being a little late in the season. Pace of play was slow for an afternoon round.
Questionable reviews
Played the course in ideal conditions. Greens were marked up. I spent a good amount of time talking to people that were sitting at the clubhouse after the round. I couldn't find one person who liked the redesign and in particular the goofy greens. Then we started talking about the last string of reviews. We came to the conclusion that either the course management or the course architect must be either paying people or getting all of their friends to write a favorable review. Every unfavorable review is followed by 5-10 5 star reviews. Those that play the course know there is something fishy about a mu I course getting so many 5 star reviews. It tells me that someone is trying g to hide the fact that virtually no one likes the redesign. Stupid greens, stupid random mounding off of the fairways, a really poor finishing 18th hole situated well away from the clubhouse and 5 hour rounds. Now let's see another 5-10. " This is the best course.ever" reviews following this one. The positive reviews are too obvious of an attempt to cover up the real sentiment of the average golfer who plays this course. .
Fun and Challenging -- Liked the Design
Good choice for Chicago city dwellers. Not too far away. Not expensive. Short but very challenging. Give it a try!
Stunning!
When playing a bucket list course, and assuming you can, put this one at the top! Old Course. History. Prestige. Charm. Setting. Quirkiness. Subtle strategy. Greens. Town.
Beautiful Course!
It was my first time playing this course and was very impressed with it. The practice area is huge with a nice short game area and large bent grass driving range. The course is equally impressive with winding fairways, strategically place bunkers and nice mounding between holes. The greens are challenging, which makes up for the shorter 6,300 yard course. Course is in great shape for only being open about a year. The renovation was well thought out and I recommend it to anyone who wants to practice or play at a first class facility.
Good course
Great course. I like the the new design. New course offers a challenge. Definitely will be back to play it again.
Favorite Course in Chicago NW Suburbs
I live in the city, so I don't have many good courses close to me. This is my favorite course that is close to the city for many reasons. It is playable for golfers of all skill levels, and they keep the course in excellent condition. Looking forward to getting back there real soon!
A Good Test of Golf
Mt. Prospect Golf Course will give you a solid test of golf. What it lacks in length it makes up for in strategically placed bunkers and contoured greens. Overall a good test of golf, and a pleasure to play.
Wow - Great Challenge, awesome course
As a guy who loves to find the most challenging and fun courses in the NW burbs, I was very impressed with the new MPGC. Greens were challenging and in good shape. New hole layouts a big improvement. Will be back soon!
Amazing course
This course is the best in the area by far. The new green complexes creat so many fun shots that challenge golfers of all skill levels. It is always in immaculate shape.
Great Course
Mount Prospect is a lovely course. In the middle of a city but feels miles away. Challenging yet player friendly. I would recommend this for any type of golfer.
Great Course, Great Experience
Went out and played this course on a Tuesday afternoon and couldn't have been more impressed. The course was in great shape and had fantastic pace of play. The greens are tiered which make's it a player's dream needing to be precise with your approach shots in order to get a birdie. If you are an accurate driver you set yourself up for short wedge shots into the green and can score from there. Overall amazing course and amazing staff. Would definitely recommend playing here.
Tricky greens
The course is great and tight. The greens are difficult. Hit the wrong tier and you are in for a three putt for sure
You are spot on. Ridiculous greens 1,2,5,7,8,9,10,15,16&18 are all way too complicated. The rtj grass used for the rough is also ridiculously hard to chip from.
