Very well maintained. Open fairwsts
Course is very well maintained. Greens were very well manicured, a challenge, but fun. Not too much water or sand to get in trouble. I would definitely play the course again.
Not Your Old MPGC
Love the course renovation as well as the new practice area! More than enough room on the putting green to find a quiet spot to get some serious practice in. The driving range is spacious and the turf is, well the turf is so nice I almost cried. (I remember the old range.) It's as if you walked out to one of the fairways and hit a bucket of balls. I sent some pics to my brother and a buddy we met out there 25 years ago and they didn't believe it was the new range. As nice, if not better than any other public course practice facility out there. Now to the course; no more driver wedge until your hearts content, definitely more strategy involved than before. I used to hit long irons off some tees just to do it. Now the setup forces you to carry a fairway bunker, but keep it short of another, a la holes 3 & 9. The greens are undulating to say the least, but if you're in the correct spot on the green you'll have a nice look at birdie. You'll pay for the bad shots and you'll be rewarded for the good shots. Looking forward to playing MPGC again!
Thanks for the great review. We appreciate the great feedback please come back and see us again soon.
Mount Prospect Golf Club
The Good: David Esler redesign of 1927 parkland layout in the middle of a Mount Prospect neighborhood is an architectural delight. Layout is fun and challenging despite being short with several doglegs and many "go for broke" moments. Superb Par 5's, good variety in Par 4's and a couple strong Par 3's. Nice fairways and very difficult, undulated green complexes. Some of the largest greens you'll find on such a short course. Very nice clubhouse with excellent 19th hole. Good on-course amenities include GPS on carts and halfway house. One of the better values for a course within 30 minutes from downtown Chicago.
The Bad: The greens can be overly challenging for the high-handicapper. Practice facility is fair at best with a limited driving range. Pace of play can be very slow during peak season and no ranger to police pace. Holes are very close together and can feel claustrophobic. Par 3's on the closing nine are fairly blah.
The Verdict: Mount Prospect is a great option for city slickers looking to get a fun round in without driving an hour. Quirky, short shotmaker's dream with old school feel.
Best Hole:The three Par 5's are great, but the opening hole is awesome. A drive that must avoid several sand traps and an approach that is blind over a huge pot bunker in middle of fairway.
After the Reno, very golf course in the Chi
Mt. Prospect with through a massive renovation in early 2016 and what a fantastic difference. Tees, fairways, and the massive undulating greens are just excellent. Course makes you think off the tee and not mindlessly pull driver on every par 4/5. Sometimes a driver is necessary and sometimes a 6 iron is your best course of action. Paid 38 bucks or so on a Monday and the pace of play was very good. I really enjoy the mounding and course layout, which made a relatively boring course and top notch joint. Too many boring courses in the Chicagoland area that looked like old Mt. Prospect. Now it's one of the best out there. Only thing I can see is that I can see pace of play being a problem. Even on a Monday there were quite a few people out there, Fri, Sat, Sun I have a feeling this place is a death march with 5 hr plus rounds a standard.
Thanks for the 4 star review! We are glad you enjoyed your day out on our newly renovated golf course. We are very busy on the weekends, but you can be rest assured that we have rangers on the course monitoring pace of play. Our weekend pace of play averages 4 hours and 25 minutes.
Great course on a foul weather day
2nd time playing this course and like it even more. Unfortunately, weather was cold and windy, and had to quit early but check-in gave me a rain check for another 9 holes! Very appreciated! Can't wait to play this course again when it's nice out!
As for the course itself. Challenging but not crazy difficult. Greens are well placed and maintained, but you do need to hit them as the surrounding terrain is either downhill or bunker-surrrounded. Well-kept teeboxes and fairways!
Thank you for the 4 star rating! We are glad you enjoyed playing the course. We can't wait to have you back out once the weather clears up.
MPGC
The course itself was nice but didn't know they aerated and sanded most of the greens. Also, there's a little snack shop at the turn that we were going to use but it was closed. Had to wait in the clubhouse bar for food behind people who finished playing and putting a big order in. No beverage cart on course this day although it seemed like a lot of golfers. The layout of the course is challenging but fun.
Thanks for the 4 star rating! We tried to notify everyone about the aerating of the greens. I am sorry you did not receive the message. Hope to see you out here this summer.
The course has a classic and modern layout.
I think the course is a great challenge for players for all skill levels. It is difficult, but also forgiving. The staff is incredible. They make sure the experience is the best it can be. I was also impressed with the state of the art practice facility installed during the renovations. I have played there for over ten years, and it has never once disappointed me. I highly recommend the course for anyone who is looking to have a good time, play a serious round, or even practice. It doesn't disappoint!
Thanks so much for taking the time to leave us a great review! We love hearing from our loyal golfers! Hope to see you out here soon!
First of the season
Fairways still in winter mode
Overall coarse is short but greens are challenging. Looking forward to more rounds this year
Thank you so much for the great review! We're so pleased to hear that you enjoyed your round with us and we look forward to seeing you again soon!
Thank you so much for the 5 stars! Hope to see you again soon!
Very nice course
After playing at Mt.Prospect, I am very impressed with the practice facility and the condition the course is in. The greens are kept up well and the fairways are in great shape.
That's so great to hear! Thank you for taking the time to leave a review!
Very nice course.
After playing at Mt. Prospect, I am beyond thrilled with my experience. The practice facility is phenomenal and the course is in great shape. The greens were also kept up well.
Good track, tough greens. Pace of play was a nightmare...
Thank you so much for the 5 Stars! We want to apologize for the slow pace of play. We hope you will still come out and see us in the future.
Almost Perfect
I absolutely love playing this course. Pretty short off the tees, but extremely challenging greens to make up for it. The course is always in fantastic shape no matter what time of the year. My only knock on it is there is never any staff driving around the course making sure things are moving on busy days. Once you pass the starter, you're on your own. This past Sunday it took us 5 hours to play 18. I'm sure if they put someone out there on a cart to move things along, pace of play would have been much better. Overall though, highly recommended.
Thank you so much for the great review! We're so pleased to hear that you enjoy playing at Mt. Propsect.
We appreciate your patience with the slower golfers. We will certainly look into this and we hope you'll play us again in the future.
Nice rolling layout, with very sloped & fast greens
This course was recently renovated and was recommended by a friend. The weather was cool and windy, but it had rained the past few days and was cart path only (which I hate). Anyway we still finished our round in 4 1/2 hours. None of us shot very well in our first round of the year, but we were impressed with the layout. We played the silver tees which seem short at only 6,000+ yards, but since it's only a par 70 and wet, it played much longer. Nice sporty layout with plenty of trouble if you're wild, but being Masters week, the greens gave us a hint of Augusta Nat'l - very fast with lots of slope. Course was in good condition for early April in Chicago. We'll definitely return, especially at the Hot Deals price.
Thank you so much for the great review! We are so pleased to hear that you enjoyed your round with us. Sorry it was cart path only. It has been an unseasonably wet spring. Hopefully moving forward, the course will dry out and we won't have as many cart path only days. We look forward to seeing you again soon!
Great Shape
By far the best maintained course in the area that I have played. The greens are challenging, but fun and force you to use your creativity around the green. If you play this course on a regular basis your short game will get really good!
Hi ChunknRun1414, Thanks for the great review. We appreciate the great feedback. Please come back and see us again soon.
What a Day at MPGC
I couldn't believe how good of shape the course was in for Feb. 24th. The grass was all green and the greens were rolling like mid-summer. We teed off early and didn't have to wait on a shot. What a day we had!
Thank you so much for the great review! We're so pleased to hear that you enjoyed your round with us!
Great Shape
I had a blast the other day playing my first round of spring golf at Mt. Prospect. The staff was very accommodating and the course was in great shape! If you are looking for a course that challenges your imagination around the greens like many "Championship Style" courses go play MP.
Thank you so much for the great review! We're so pleased to hear that you enjoyed your round with us and we look forward to seeing you again soon!
Best conditioned park district owned golf course in cook county
Cannot say enough good things about the new layout since the renovations and like always they take great pride in the playing conditions of the course. For a park district owned course that gets as much play as it does, you will not find better greens to putt on. Fair but challenging. Staff is the best as well. Expect slower pace on the weekends.

Great round for Nov. 7
I've played three rounds of golf in November this year. I was so impressed with how clear the course was compared to the other courses I played. The leaves were picked up. We didn't spend any time looking for our shots. I play here often and the layout is great. The greens, as always, are a insane and the pin placements can be cruel at times. Overall, it's a fun round of golf. Staff seems annoyed by your presence, but whatever.
