Golfer Reviews
Almost Perfect
I absolutely love playing this course. Pretty short off the tees, but extremely challenging greens to make up for it. The course is always in fantastic shape no matter what time of the year. My only knock on it is there is never any staff driving around the course making sure things are moving on busy days. Once you pass the starter, you're on your own. This past Sunday it took us 5 hours to play 18. I'm sure if they put someone out there on a cart to move things along, pace of play would have been much better. Overall though, highly recommended.
Nice rolling layout, with very sloped & fast greens
This course was recently renovated and was recommended by a friend. The weather was cool and windy, but it had rained the past few days and was cart path only (which I hate). Anyway we still finished our round in 4 1/2 hours. None of us shot very well in our first round of the year, but we were impressed with the layout. We played the silver tees which seem short at only 6,000+ yards, but since it's only a par 70 and wet, it played much longer. Nice sporty layout with plenty of trouble if you're wild, but being Masters week, the greens gave us a hint of Augusta Nat'l - very fast with lots of slope. Course was in good condition for early April in Chicago. We'll definitely return, especially at the Hot Deals price.
Thank you so much for the great review! We are so pleased to hear that you enjoyed your round with us. Sorry it was cart path only. It has been an unseasonably wet spring. Hopefully moving forward, the course will dry out and we won't have as many cart path only days. We look forward to seeing you again soon!
Great Shape
By far the best maintained course in the area that I have played. The greens are challenging, but fun and force you to use your creativity around the green. If you play this course on a regular basis your short game will get really good!
Hi ChunknRun1414, Thanks for the great review. We appreciate the great feedback. Please come back and see us again soon.
What a Day at MPGC
I couldn't believe how good of shape the course was in for Feb. 24th. The grass was all green and the greens were rolling like mid-summer. We teed off early and didn't have to wait on a shot. What a day we had!
Thank you so much for the great review! We're so pleased to hear that you enjoyed your round with us!
Great Shape
I had a blast the other day playing my first round of spring golf at Mt. Prospect. The staff was very accommodating and the course was in great shape! If you are looking for a course that challenges your imagination around the greens like many "Championship Style" courses go play MP.
Thank you so much for the great review! We're so pleased to hear that you enjoyed your round with us and we look forward to seeing you again soon!
Best conditioned park district owned golf course in cook county
Cannot say enough good things about the new layout since the renovations and like always they take great pride in the playing conditions of the course. For a park district owned course that gets as much play as it does, you will not find better greens to putt on. Fair but challenging. Staff is the best as well. Expect slower pace on the weekends.

Great round for Nov. 7
I've played three rounds of golf in November this year. I was so impressed with how clear the course was compared to the other courses I played. The leaves were picked up. We didn't spend any time looking for our shots. I play here often and the layout is great. The greens, as always, are a insane and the pin placements can be cruel at times. Overall, it's a fun round of golf. Staff seems annoyed by your presence, but whatever.
Greens are ridiculous
The course layout is great since the remodel but the greens are ridiculously hard. There are at least 3 tiers on each green, and, if you're on the wrong tier, good luck. They've made the greens way too hard for the average golfer. I probably won't play there again. It's unfortunate because the rest of the course layout is good
Peewee golf greens
First we got the senior rate for $40, two of us were seniors the other two were not still got the rate. No one asked for ID. Two days earlier it rained, course decided to make it Cart Path Only. Only one hole out of 18 was the fairway wet. The rest could of handled a 90 degree. The workers were on the fairway with heavier carts than ours. The course is short but what makes it difficult are the undulating greens. Up and down the ball rolls. Lag putting is at a premium.
Greens are a killer
The course is great shape and beautiful. The round on a Sunday afternoon took 4:55. I think it's because the greens are so hard most average golfers are taking 3 or more putts every time.. I like the course put will not be my first choice because of the greens and pace of play.
very green pretty golf course
live right down the street I love the reinovations. What a practice facility. nice neighborhood traditional late out thoroughly enjoyable.
Fun and interesting course to play
I've played this course many times this year and have really enjoyed it. The course layout and routing is different from 3 years ago and I think it's an improvement over the old course. The new layout allows for many different clubs off the tee. Landing areas are liberal on all the par 4's and the par 3's vary from very short to long. The key to playing this course well is having a good short game and a sharp putter. The greens are tough and are really the only defence this course has. Some of the greens are severe with multiple levels so where you place your approach shots are important. The staff is always friendly and has always found a way to fit me in late in the day. Overall , the course is a lot of fun to play and I highly recommend it.
Crown Jewel
My friend and I played Mt. Prospect yesterday and couldn't be more impressed.
The course was immaculate during a time of year when other courses tend to let
things go. We are both retired and play 3-4 times a week. So far, we have amassed
over 60 rounds for the year and have, mistakenly, ignored Mt. Prospect. I golf in a men's league with many players from Mt. Prospect who have given me negative remarks about the renovations and changes to the course. Knowing how they play in our league and having played myself yesterday, I realize they are just not good enough to enjoy the challenge of a well thought out tract. Kudos to the design team! My friend and I have added Mt. Prospect to our preferred "hit list". Thanks to a very friendly staff and all who made my visit memorable.
Solid course
Great remodel, in decent shape for being a little late in the season. Pace of play was slow for an afternoon round.
Questionable reviews
Played the course in ideal conditions. Greens were marked up. I spent a good amount of time talking to people that were sitting at the clubhouse after the round. I couldn't find one person who liked the redesign and in particular the goofy greens. Then we started talking about the last string of reviews. We came to the conclusion that either the course management or the course architect must be either paying people or getting all of their friends to write a favorable review. Every unfavorable review is followed by 5-10 5 star reviews. Those that play the course know there is something fishy about a mu I course getting so many 5 star reviews. It tells me that someone is trying g to hide the fact that virtually no one likes the redesign. Stupid greens, stupid random mounding off of the fairways, a really poor finishing 18th hole situated well away from the clubhouse and 5 hour rounds. Now let's see another 5-10. " This is the best course.ever" reviews following this one. The positive reviews are too obvious of an attempt to cover up the real sentiment of the average golfer who plays this course. .
You are spot on. Ridiculous greens 1,2,5,7,8,9,10,15,16&18 are all way too complicated. The rtj grass used for the rough is also ridiculously hard to chip from.
Stunning!
When playing a bucket list course, and assuming you can, put this one at the top! Old Course. History. Prestige. Charm. Setting. Quirkiness. Subtle strategy. Greens. Town.
Beautiful Course!
It was my first time playing this course and was very impressed with it. The practice area is huge with a nice short game area and large bent grass driving range. The course is equally impressive with winding fairways, strategically place bunkers and nice mounding between holes. The greens are challenging, which makes up for the shorter 6,300 yard course. Course is in great shape for only being open about a year. The renovation was well thought out and I recommend it to anyone who wants to practice or play at a first class facility.
Favorite Course in Chicago NW Suburbs
I live in the city, so I don't have many good courses close to me. This is my favorite course that is close to the city for many reasons. It is playable for golfers of all skill levels, and they keep the course in excellent condition. Looking forward to getting back there real soon!
Thank you so much for the great review! We're so pleased to hear that you enjoy playing at Mt. Propsect.
We appreciate your patience with the slower golfers. We will certainly look into this and we hope you'll play us again in the future.
