BEST GREENS
The greens at this course are the best I've seen this year. I've played over 50 rounds of golf this year at about 20 different courses. This course was in the best condition of any course I have played. You can't find a ball mark on any of their greens....they are PERFECT. It is well worth the money to play this course.
Best value around
Best value in McHenry county. Great layout always in good shape. No ranger unfortunately so my only issue is the slow groups who seem to populate here. We were behind two singles who refused to join up even though we were waiting on every hole on the back 9.
Po Shop Dude VERY RUDE!!!
Booked a noon Hot Deal a few days ago. Checked in @ 11:45 and as I had an exchange w/the clerk with a TON of attitude. I began speaking w/the clerk noting that there were not many cars in parking lot (12). Asked if I could pair up rather than play w/3 others in a few minutes since there were 20 people on course. If not, then I'd be happy to play w/the threesome. I was not asking for any special service. ( I work as a Ranger/Starter myself, so I know a thing or two about pace of play.)
He goes OFF on how great a rate I got from Golf Now and how it costs him to use their carts. He then says, "I don't care. If you wanna play alone go ahead. You'll be running into foursome in no time and will crawl the rest of the way. Do whatever!" I'm stunned! Where is this dude coming from? Lemme outta here. Don't need to listen to his incessant whining!
I talked to others about the practice green who had similar experiences. When I catch up to a twosome on 7 they tell me the same thing. This dude's gotta go. He need's help w/personal skills.Retraining?
I like the course quite a bit, but I won't return until I know this dude is gone. I play a lot (110 rounds to date.) and will play other establishments with MUCH better Customer Relations.
Enough challenges to be fun
I found a deal on GolfNow and decided to play P.I.
The course had some challenging holes, but it wasn't overly hard that would take all the fun out of golf.
It wasn't intuitive where the next hole was all the time, so a few more markers would be nice.
Great Course, Great Conditioning
Always look forward to playing Prairie Isle. Great course, immaculately conditioned, and a lot of fun to play. 8th hole is signature hole, par 3, 161 yards, 40-50 ft drop to green with water surrounding entire green. Great par 5's, solid par 3's great collection of par 4's ranging from 325-445 yards. 18 is great finishing par 5. holes 12-13 were created from an old rock quarry, so hit to the top of the hill and enjoy the view. Both have 40-50 ft drops to green. Highly recommended. Note: no driving range, and range across the street has been closed for some time. They do have a hitting net and great short game area.
Great Course
Great course, challenging layout, well kept. I like having a set of tees between red and white. Friendly, efficient staff, good food. Lacks a driving range and the pitching practice green is always littered with balls.
Surprise! Back Greens aerated.
One of my favorite layouts. Really like the variety of distances, difficulty this course offers. What I didn't like was that back greens were aerated a few days prior w/o any warning from anyone in the Pro Shop OR online. What a shame.
Won't return w/o calling ahead to find out the true conditions prior to booking.
My rec is based unknowing the courses greens are in good shape.
Course in excellent condition. front nine greens were great. Back nine were slow due to aeriatiion.
fun course to play with good combo of different holes. plays fast . greens were consistent. med. speed. Most were receptive. Will play again.
Back 9 Closed Due to Aeration
The front 9 was very nice but we had to play twice since back 9 was closed due to aeration.
Excellent course
The course is layed out well with risk and reward holes. Starts off with a par 5 and ends that way. Some holes you have to lay up for the 2nd shots in. The course is was in excellent shape.
Outstanding
Great course. I wish it was in my town. Actually has some hills, which is rare here in these parts. Holes 11, 12, and 13 are an "amen corner". I have played here many times and enjoy it thoroughly. It is also very much out in the country with only a few houses on a few holes. Course is in great shape.
matt
Terrain is awesome. Course is well maintained. There are a few tricky holes, especially the18th.
Good good
Honestly do not understand the fuss about slow play. Maybe there were outings or leagues going on during your round.
Anywho, had a Noon tee time for a twosome and shot off the 1st the tee at 11:50AM, ten minutes ahead of schedule and was back in the car at 3:30PM (we did cheat and play few extra holes in between since we were way ahead of schedule and still managed to finish before 3:30PM) Greens were consistently 6.5/10 for speed of greens with 10 being the quickest (makray memorial would be a 8.5 on a good day in my books which is plenty fast enough for me and most others). Also don't blame the course for losing/searching for your balls and building your 5hr+ round. There really aren't many hazards that came into play as I only hit one bunker the entire round never got wet.
Overall great course and will be back with a foursome because its such a quick course. With the pace of play being so quick, no one should be hammered by the end of the round haha
Always enjoyable
This is one of my favorite courses in the area. The variety of holes, the conditioning and even the views are great. It is a bit of a ride but well worth it.
Very Pretty
Nice course with beautiful views. Fun and challenging!
