Off-roading Golf Course
Ground under repair and lot of them. Also, rough was nothing but bumpy, looks like gofers got a hold of the course. Greens were ok but grown out. Even for the hot deal rate I had regrets post round.
The hidden gem of West Riverside County
Tucked away in Corona at the crossroads of the 91 and 15 freeways lies what I can only describe as Western Riverside County's best-kept secret: Cresta Verde Golf Course. After decades of searching for that perfect blend of challenge, charm, and value, I've finally found it at this remarkable 18-hole gem.
## A Course Steeped in Hollywood History
What sets Cresta Verde apart isn't just its exceptional golf—it's the incredible story behind it. Originally designed in 1927 by none other than Hollywood legend Randolph Scott, this course has welcomed some of the biggest names in entertainment history. Lucille Ball, Desi Arnaz, Burt Lancaster, and Clark Gable all escaped Hollywood's hustle and bustle to play these very fairways. Walking these grounds, you can almost feel the golden age of Hollywood echoing through the rolling hills.
## A True Test for Every Golfer
The brilliantly redesigned layout (updated by Jay Miller in 2002) presents a sneaky challenge at 6,150 yards, par 70, with over 300 feet of elevation changes that will test every club in your bag. What makes this course so special is its thoughtful design: six relatively easy holes to build confidence, six fun holes that keep you engaged, and six world-class tough holes that separate the contenders from the pretenders.
The Bermuda fairways and bent grass greens are maintained to championship standards, offering consistent playing conditions that rival courses charging twice the price. The elevation changes aren't just challenging—they're breathtaking, providing stunning panoramic views of the Inland Empire that make every shot memorable.
## Unbeatable Value in Today's Golf Market
In an era where quality golf often comes with premium pricing, Cresta Verde delivers world-class golf at refreshingly affordable rates. Known as one of Southern California's "best value courses," this hidden gem offers competitive pricing for 18 holes, 9 holes, walkers, seniors, and juniors. The value proposition here is simply unmatched in Western Riverside County.
## The Complete Golf Experience
Beyond the exceptional course, Cresta Verde provides everything today's golfer desires:
- **State-of-the-art facilities**: Newer golf carts and well-maintained equipment
- **19th Hole Excellence**: Great food, ice-cold beer, and full bar service
- **Practice Perfection**: Fully lit driving range for after-work sessions
- **Professional Instruction**: Available for golfers looking to improve their game
- **Event-Ready**: Perfect venue for tournaments, fundraisers, and corporate outings
## A Hidden Gem No More
Recent reviews consistently highlight excellent conditions, outstanding value, and superb layout, yet somehow this course remains Western Riverside County's best-kept secret. The friendly staff truly makes you feel "at home," creating an atmosphere that keeps golfers coming back season after season.
As one of America's oldest 500 courses, Cresta Verde has witnessed the tremendous growth of the Inland Empire while maintaining its small-town charm and welcoming atmosphere. It's rare to find a course that successfully balances rich history, challenging golf, stunning scenery, and exceptional value—but Cresta Verde accomplishes this with ease.
## The Verdict
After playing countless courses throughout Southern California, I can confidently say that Cresta Verde Golf Course is the hidden gem that Western Riverside County has been quietly harboring. Whether you're a scratch golfer seeking a legitimate test or a weekend warrior looking for exceptional value, this course delivers on every level.
Don't let this secret stay hidden much longer—book your tee time at Cresta Verde and discover why those in the know consider it the crown jewel of Corona golf. Trust me, once you experience the magic of this Hollywood hideaway, you'll understand why legends chose to
It's meh
it’s what you would expect for a $40-$50 around golf course there’s no sand traps you can tell where they used to be cause there’s grass in there. Some parts of the cart pathways are crumbling. The golf carts are sketchy. I probably won’t play here again.
Great value!
The course is very good condition. The staff is very friendly. I love playing there.
Immaculate greens.
Course was in great shape. Greens were immaculate!
Slooow going st Cresta Verde
Played Friday 10:30 am T time - very slow
I had to quit at the 10th- very slow group of 4 struggling golfers! It’s a hit and miss but cost is very tempting for many
Not worth it
For starter’s the course is in decent shape and is reasonably priced, however, the 8 minute tee times with no Marshall presence is a complete joke. I’ve played this course 5 times this year and every single time they performed lawn work during our play. Watering greens, mowing tee boxes, you name it, as late as 11am! This course is also always jammed up. They also have an absolutely stupid cooler policy, I understand courses wanting to avoid outside alcohol, but they won’t even let you bring a cooler with water bottles or sodas. It’s a joke here, just avoid it.
Marshall needs to do better
We got to the 1st tee at our tee time after warming up at the range to find a group waiting. Asked them their tee time and it was after ours and they also said they were told they could go. We also got stuck behind a group that were not keeping up with pace of play and they ended up being a group of 5. The Marshall came around 3 times and said nothing to them about speeding up. When we play here it usually takes us around 4 -4 1/2 hours to complete the round but it took closer to 6 hours. At one point there were 3 groups waiting for them to advance but it seemed like they did not care at all . There is also a couple of holes that are in need of some serious repair as there is more dirt than grass on the fairway
This course is convenient
Course needs a little maintenance, some holes are dangerously close to one another. Should provide netting around houses to keep from getting damaged. Other than that I enjoy coming to this golf course with my sons .very close to home.
Good value
Course was in decent condition. Greens were in good shape, some fairways were a little rough. Carts could use some attention (torn seats…etc). Wind picked up in the afternoon, but overall good course for the money.
My favorite course for the value
Hard to beat the value for the quality. Course is challenging with lots of elevation changes.
