If you like delayed tee times and slow play this is your course

The overall course was pretty good. The greens were really good though some a little slow but that changed later in the round. Some of the fairways weren’t that great as the grass felt more like compacted dirt but mostly this was a very enjoyable course. It was challenging enough to keep things interesting but it was open enough to not get too discouraged. The 17th hole was quite impressive as you have about 190 to the hole but about 100 foot elevation change so it plays much shorter. Solid finishing hole too.

Pace of play was great too. Had some slow guys in front of us for a bit but they disappeared after the turn.

This was my last time playing in SoCal before I leave and I wish I had found this course sooner.

Finding a reasonably price course, that is in good shape, is tough. Props to Cresta Verde owner and staff for putting in the time, effort and resources to get the most important things right...greens, fairways and tee boxes. All are in great shape. Sprinklers were on mid day today...which some could find annoying...too me it shows they are on top of things and a little water on a warm day felt good, They nature areas of this course are meant to be UNmaintained. Food in the clubhouse was excellent and workers inside and out were friendly.

We will be back and will be spreading the word.

It’s a fun course, not great. Bumpy fairways a d paths- rough ride. Tess are not level, but the greens were pretty good.

Greens were nice, soft and smooth. Fairways were okay. Several roug patches but overall, not bad for the money.

Not very pleased. Very slow play with no Marshall to move golfers along. Took us 1-1/4 hours to play the first 4 holes and over 2-1/2 for the front 9. Paid more for the weekend but it wasn’t worth it. Left after 9 holes. A Morher’s Day disappointment.

Here is my experience. I booked a 6:00 AM tee-time for. Drove in from Orange County. I always play close to the first tee-time because I don't like to be rushed. I like to get to the course, warm up, and get my yips out on the driving range, hit 27 balls, then do some lag putting.

The issues:

(1) 6:00 AM tee-time, and there were no employees to check us in or the group that was congregated near us. An employee did not arrive until after 6:00 AM. So, right from the gate, we felt rushed to tee off. Odd thing, though, when we arrived at 5:30 AM. There was already a foursome-teeing off with carts. Hmm, it must be owners' friends because there were no keys in any other carts, nor was there was soul to tend to our needs.

(2) Course conditions - I see the potential. It is there, but it is seriously lacking. On some of the greens, there are weeds, some fairways dirt-packed, tee boxes uneven.

(3) One of the holes we teed off on four sprinklers was going on the left side of the fairway about 250 yards out. Guess where we hit it. Yep, in the lake. So, we had to time the sprinklers and kick our balls out of the lake.

Unfortunately, we will not be back. It's $49 bucks, but it's not worth it.

They work hard to keep the fairways green. The greens were in great condition.
