Beautiful course, challenging layout
My wife and I played with another couple this past weekend. The fellow at the check-in counter (owner?) was friendly and when we told him it was our first time, he threw in the range balls at no additional cost. He told us that this is a $70 course, but the out of the way location held the price down. By the end of the round we were inclined to agree with him.
This is a tight course with a mixture of tree lined and links style holes. Course conditions were terrific, with beautifully maintained fairways and hole designs that held your interest the whole round. The holes were varied in their design with a few blind tee shots. The signs at the tee box provided useful information about the tee shot to help you avoid unseen trouble. Given the unique nature of each hole, it was hard to know the best way to play the course. Some playing tips mounted in the cart would have been a welcome addition.
The greens had a lot of undulation with few flat surfaces They rolled true but were on the grainy side. Putts with too little pace broke more sharply as they approached the cup. Two putting was not automatic on most greens. The pin position on the short par 3 ninth was questionable, close to the bunkered front edge on the side of a steep drop. Any putt from above hole (likely given the bunker and the front pin) that didn't go in was off the green.
Nits to pick were inconsistent bunkers and no clear place to park your cart when warming up and when going into the snack bar at the turn.
It was a tough round but my friend and I agreed that we want another crack now that we have some local knowledge.
plush carpet fairways
well worth the 45 min drive,,,will return,,,,course not quirkie, right in front of you and many picturest views!!!
Love this Course!
This is one of my favorite courses close to Indy. Definitely worth the 25 minute drive. Course is always in great condition and the staff is always appreciative you came out.
This is the best course in the hancock henry couty area!
This is the best course in the hancock henry couty area! The course is well maintained and beautiful. The staff are friendly.
Super friendly staff and great value for the price.
I love this course and usually get away from Indy to play it 1-2 times a year. It is an awesome track.
worth the drive from Indy
Love this course and #10 while perhaps a little too tricky for its own good is one of the most difficult holes in the state. Overall the course was in great shape and very playable.
Friendliest Place to Play
Although it was a Thursday-and it was 93 degrees-it is ALWAYS worth driving the 37 miles out to Knightstown to see Max/Brad/ Butch and company. These guys truly know how to treat customers-and I have never been there when they did not tell me that "They appreciate us coming out to play their course". If this course was in Indy-all the members of my Sunday League would be members because of how we r treated!
Absolutely a beautiful course!
An absolutely beautiful course! The course was just as described, bent grass fairways add immensely to the secluded golf course requiring mastery of the short game to overcome difficult approach shots to undulating greens. The course had a few Par 3 and Par 5 holes, but mainly Par 4 holes. Super nice course with great scenery and challenging holes.
I purchased this golf outing for my husband, son and a friend as a holiday weekend surprise and went along as a rider. Absolutely enjoyed myself with the scenery and the fun of watching them play the challenging holes. We are not professional golfers. We play for pure fun of being outdoors.
The staff was super friendly! They were expecting us and called us by our party name prior to us identifying ourselves. The fellow golfers were super friendly as well.
We will be returning to this course in the near future as well! Absolutely our favorite course in the area so far! Great deal for a great course. We would recommend that if you have not played Royal Hylands, you should!
Course in great shape, some interesting holes
Started play in some light rain. Course was in great shape. Pins were in some tough positions. There are definitely some fun holes to play.

WOW!!
What a course!! Very picturesque, very challenging, very well maintained, very quiet, very different holes, I love this course. Would like to live closer to it, I would be there as often as possible.06/
A hidden gem
Royal Hylands has always been one of my favorites but last week it far exceeded my expectations. The course is in supurb condition, fairways and greens are "country club caliber." The Minnicks have done a marvelous job
Great Course
This was a fantastic golf course. The greens were very fast and undulating. Fairways were in excellent shape and very clean. I drove an hour to get here to play this course and I was not disappointed one bit. The price I paid on GolfNow was a steal for this course. If you have not played it I would highly recommend that you check this one out. The staff also went out of their way to introduce me to the people that I would be playing with for this round.
This course had a great layout
I enjoyed playing this course because of the surroundings and the layout. It was the perfect amount of challenge.
Royal Hylands Golf club
The staff was super friendly, the course is very well maintained,
and with the super rate that we got from Golfnow we just couldn't pass it up.
Great Course off the beaten path
The Royal Hyland's course was in great condition and Max in the Pro Shop was great. I look forward to playing out there again. Having never played there before there were some lessons learned but each hole was a true test.
The grounds crew keeps the place in very good condition.
Nice course
Course is usually in very good shape located in Knightstown, Indiana. Greens are fast with true breaks and there are several challenging holes. Not a course for a beginner.
Great layout. Always in great condition.
Great layout. Always in great condition. Staff very friendly.
This is the best course in central Indiana for the value and quality. I promise you'll be back!
There are few places in this state that boast great views, wonderful history and the best staff you will find. This place is tough and I mean mentally & visually challenging. Number 10 is a bear...
Anyway this place is a gem in the rough. If you are looking for a unique golf experience in the state this is the one to play. Bent grass fairways, immaculate greens and the beauty of the Blue River Valley! Good luck finding more beautiful and more challenging holes than #4 and # 10! I also challenge you to find a more personable staff than those at Royal Hylands. This is the best course in East Central Indiana that you will find.
