Valley of the Moon Golf Club

I played the West course on Sunday, May 13. The greens had been punched about 4 weeks prior but there was very little evidence of being punched when rolling putts. The greens were fast but fair. I found the rough adjacent to the fairways to be very long and it could used to be mowed down a bit. I lost 2 balls in the deep rough and couldn’t find either of them after an extensive search (I guess I should try to stay in the fairway!). Overall, I had a great day and will be back!

Course is excellent, staff very nice, rough a little thick.

I can sum up this round in one word; outstanding.

Greens; outstanding, they are in great shape and lots of golfers were fixing their ball marks.

Pace of play: outstanding. I teed off at 3pm, and I was told by a regular twosome that is the time to come out and play.

Sites; outstanding. There were lots of holes that caught my eye; tree lined, open fairways. The 13th has a small creek running by the tee box. The 18th hole is one of the nicest finishing holes I’ve seen in a long time.

And getting to the course requires a nice drive through Sonoma wine country.

Great pace of play , great price . I made 7 one putts . I am a good putter , but you need good greens to make as many as I did today . Play mediocre tee to green , but scored . 30 putts .

Oakmont is not extremely long but makes scoring difficult because of the slope and shape of the greens. It makes them drain well but makes some putts very challenging.

Enjoyed, though didn’t play well. Thought course was in great shape considering recent rains.

Greens are in great shape with the soggy conditions the area has been getting... Overall the layout excellent making you move the tee ball left and right. Fairways in good shape and rough not too severe. Oh.. par threes challenging, but very fair. Highly recommend !

We got out earlier than our tee time out as two , 7:45 start 11:15 finish . Great Breakfast after . Nice value with cart . The East Course is nice also I play with my wife at their executive course .

No posted rates, and turns out we were overcharged. Reported this to the Superintendent and he said I was lying. Never again

Oakmont Golf Club... sounds prestigious doesn’t it? The clubhouse is average, the course is average and the pace of play was average. Id normally give this course a 3 stars for average but the scenery made this a 4 Star. I would come back and play the next time I visit NorCal, although it wouldn’t be one of my top options.

It would have been nice to have been told there was a big tournament in front of us when we booked the tee time. Also, the course was extremely wet and I thought Oakmont had done a sanding program for years. Not sure if it's helped much.

I am a new member at Oakmont, but played this round with a group. The pace was slow as molasses. 5.5 hour round. Golf staff was not knowledgeable and didn't seem to really want to be there or maybe it was more of having customers was inconvenience for the head pro who was behind the desk. There are many other courses that will WELCOME you to their course and appreciate your business. Unfortunately, Oakmont is not one of them. The course is the only reason to make the trek. It is a good layout that will make anyone work for a good score. The bar is reasonable but they cannot accommodate food allergies, so if you are like me, plan on eating elsewhere.
