Southwind Golf Course

This course is not maintained well at all. Can not tell where the fairways are and tee boxes are weeds and crabgrass! Greens were not too bad. Course overall looked pretty from a distance but up close was bad!

Excellent staff and food service , great lunch meal. Course condition is only fair. Perhaps we have had too much rain. Fairways are sparse with bare spots, greens have bad spots perhaps due to fungus, and the tee boxes are mostly wild grass and weeds. The grounds staff is keeping up with the mowing of the greens and fairways. Do not see why a fast growing overseed would not help. All that being said , golf with cart at less than $1.00 per hole is a good value.

Some noticeable areas where crabgrass is starting to become dominant, this needs to be eradicated soon.;

Southwind is not a beautiful or scenic course by any means but it is well taken care of. For novices like me it helps that shots off the fairway can be found easily since they keep our cut short. The price also helps (22 for 18 with a cart) and the food at the little restaurant is quite good. My favorite is the fried bologna sandwich. The only drawback is that there is no driving range. If not for that it would be 5 stars.

This was the second time I played this course. The course is long with fast greens. The back nine is a little gimmicky, but still quite fun. The staff and restaurant crew make up for anything that isn't country club status. I drive almost 2 hrs every time we play here. I wish it was in my backyard.

We play here couple time a month, it is a wide open lay out, Some may call it a goat pasture because it is wide open without manicured fairways but the Greens are some of the best you will find always in good shape. Well worth the money..

Was skeptical after reading some other reviews. Greens were in nice shape with exception of the unfixed ball marks from the group in front of us. Tee boxes and fairways were average for courses in this price range. Fairways were cut a bit longer but had no problems finding balls on them. Nice layout, some challenging holes with big elevation changes and tight fairways. Play was a little slow due to being fairly busy in the morning (was going to be pretty hot in the afternoon). Be reasonable with your expectations for a low cost, public course and you will be happy to play here. Will definitely be back again!

1st time out this year, my son and I enjoyed our round, we selected an early ( 7:15a ) tee time, a 2-some ahead of us and 2 3-somes behind us made play perfect, no rush and perfect weather, the course was in good shape and the greens played true, wide open, no sand traps, little water, the perfect course to start the season and have fun

For $20 it is hard to expect much from a golf course. That being said the condition of their greens was fantastic. The fairways however were none existent. the grass was the same length in every direction from a tee box. this made for a tough time finding teeshots that were hit right down the middle

It's not often you get a chance to enjoy the outdoors in December in Kentucky, but I got the chance this week and took advantage at Southwind in Winchester. The staff were friendly and efficient as always. The greens were rolling true and the 62 degree temperature made the slight breeze seem like an early fall, perfect day for golf. I recently became reacquainted with this course after not playing it for 20 years but I can honestly say I missed its character. Fun little course with plenty of risk/reward possibilities, even playing from the tips.

This is a course with many challenging holes like 2 550 yd part 5s, and multiple 200 yd part 3 holes. The layout is easy to follow, and there are several holes that feature water hazards. The greens were medium to fast in speed and plenty of contours. My party contained lady golfers that found the forward tees to be placed in excellent areas for competitive rounds. The friendly staff, and a great sports bar with excellent food make it a real gem. All local patrons were overly friendly, and very accommodating to out of towners. Check it out.

This is a fun course to play. The course is usually in good shape and mowed. The pace of play was a little slow this round because of the heavy fog that lingered for a few hours. It’s a great value for the money. Great course to practice on.

The lady who runs the club house is awesome we play here often she is always great to us it's a fun course to play. We will be back

Course was overall in good shape, a few of the tee boxes needed some work. I always enjoy playing this course.
