Nice Track
Very nice older course , bring your putting game very nice greens , stay below the hole
It's all true!
As somewhat of a golf course snob, I am always skeptical when I see superlative comments like "best greens" or "best value" however after finally playing Gaylord Country Club yesterday with the wife, I can say it's all true. I've played everywhere in Michigan you could ever want to play. I don't remember anywhere (including all the big names) having greens THIS good. Everything rolled true, without a bump or unpredictable turn. They are fast, undulating, and often penalizing if you hit the wrong side of the putting surface. Simply outstanding.
The layout is really nice. There are some short risk/reward holes as well as some substantial tests. But the par 5s are all reachable and there are mostly generous landing areas so it's not going to beat you up or take 3 sleeves of balls. The course is beautiful and thoughtful in all the right places, from the stone bridge on #18, to the various flower gardens around the tee boxes, to the well kept driving range.
I swear I don't work at the course! If I had one critique I would say that I could have used a sign on #9 to point to the correct tee box. I accidentally teed off on 18 by mistake. Also, the cart paths never go anywhere near the blue tees, so it's a little bit of a slowdown to have to walk 30-40 yards every hole.
Oh, and like others have said, I found it odd that they didn't correct the scorecard or at least post a note somewhere to mention that the little maps on two holes are incorrect.
This is definitely replacing the mid-priced courses on my list and moves ahead of many higher priced courses. I will certainly be back next year and probably every year. It's a shame I've been playing golf in the Gaylord area my entire life and this was the last one one on my checklist.
To summarize: best greens you will play. Immaculate conditions, a fun course that won't beat you up, and a bargain. DEFINITELY play this one.
Great golf course
This course is in too condition. Even with the lack of rain we've experienced in Michigan this summer. Kudos to the groundskeeper!
definitely will play again.
Nice layout, well maintained, friendly staff, good value, will play it again, and could play this course everyday and enjoy it.
Great course
The club keeps this course in perfect condition year after year. The staff is friendly. The greens are very challenging. Great experience overall.
tuf 1st 3
After the first 3 holes, every thing went better. No problem with traps. Nice course . Senior. Enjoyed.
Great day golfing at Gaylord Country Club
Picture perfect course. Well worth the drive
Outstanding!
My girlfriends and I golfed here for the first time and couldn't be more impressed. The treatment of the staff was over-the-top and welcoming. The greens were in immaculate conditions (despite how tough they were to play).
The only odd thing was that hole 15 and 16 appeared to be the opposite of what the score card presented.
Overall, golf here. You get the country club ambiance and treatment while golfing at a well-maintained and fun golf course!
Great Condition
Well kept, despite the lack of rain. Slow greens, great shape. Everything was great. They DO NOT, however, have clubs for rent.
Nice course
Course and pace of play very good.
Fun times
Excellent opportunity - challenging yet fun.
Tough greens
Nice course, look forward to playing again
Worth the value!
Staff was very friendly and worth visiting. Course played very well and was in very good shape!! Greens were fast to start and got quite a bit slower as the round played. Great experience. Would play again!
Great course.
Be sure you know how to get out of the bunkers. Not that you hit into them on purpose but there's a few and a very good thing is they are in perfect shape. If your in Gaylord this is a must in my book.
Challenging but not punishing.
Well maintained. Good traditional layout. Excellent shape. Quick, decent sized greens. Tricky as they bad fair amount of undulations. Liked them for their subtle challenge.
This course is well maintained !
Great place to golf for the money. I would recommend this course to all!
Very enjoyable course
The fairways had been recently aerated, so there were lots of holes around! Tees were somewhat beat up, but since no sand/seed mix was supplied on the tees, this is not surprising. Bunkers and greens were in very good shape, other than the fourth green, which we had been told about in the pro shop.
Rolling landscape makes for a very interesting variety of holes. Four sets of tees make it easy to play the course at the right length. We found the greens difficult to read sometimes. Many greens have lots of slope and downhill putts could be very difficult to get close to the hole.
Pace of play was average - about four and a quarter hours for 18 holes. We would definitely return to this course. Don't miss it if you are in the area.
Great course
Only 4 hours to play 18 in the middle of a Sunday afternoon. Well maintained course. Nice layout, with very good greens.
GOOD LITTLE COURSE
RESONABLE PRICE FOR QUALITY OF COURSE WAS ENJOYED VERY MUCH
Great Value and Layout
Gaylord CC has always been one of the best values in the area. I love the layout of the course and it offers so very challenging approach shots into their smaller greens. There were a few greens that had some damaged spots, but the course was in great shape overall.
