Rough was too long
I love Oak Quarry golf club
Beautiful course!!!!
But this time, it was really hard to fine the ball
whenever the ball fall into the rough areas
I wish you trim it shorter.
And "18 hole-cart -path-only" made us walk a lot,
So tired.....
Too much $$$$ for poor conditions
Paid full price for Cart path only( disclosed to us as we got in our golf cart. Long un-mowed grass, tee boxes, and rough Too many lost balls made a long round longer. No Beverage cart or food station and more importantly, no restroom facilities once you left the pro shop. That's ok if your a guy. Lots of trees to pick from , But as a lady, this is not cool to warn you of no facilities ( All closed for remodel) especially for a long round. Once you leave the pro shop, you don't go back by it until 18.
Not worth the money. Won't go back any time soon.
INTERESTING LAYOUT A LITTLE SLOW THAT DAY WILL PAY AGAIN!!
This is a very nice course. It's not super long and very fair for the 10+ player. The bunkers except for the 1st hole are more like waste areas and are challenging. The pace was a bit slow but I'll play here again soon.
Oak Quarry
Rode the Blues (6600/71.8/131) in slightly over 5H. Played with Steve, Andrew and Larry, excellent group, we had a good time. A little breezy and sunny, very nice golf weather. Thanks to John for coordinating and Oak Quarry for having the GK Cup Final crowd out.
Considering they were closing the course for fall maintanence right behind the GK Final group, conditions were better than expected.
Tees were thin and dry getting ready for over seeding.
Fairways mostly decent, almost always had a decent lie with a decent cushion underneath.
Rough dried out. could be anythinf from low and not penal, to hardpan to lush and thick.
Traps much improved since last visit with nicequality sand.
Large greens were pretty good considering they had probably not been mowed in 2 days as they dried out for aerification. Still rolling medium to medium fast, they held irons well. Many ball marks and irons held well.
Customer service very good from all encountered. Plush carts with the Shark Experience GPS. No drink cart, but snack stand open on the course. Good, all grass range was closed today. They did have a Titleist fitting day, thanks to Brian for some new Titleist! Very good and playable design that I like better the more I see it. Highly recommended.
6 Hour Round - ZERO Stars
Tee time was delayed by 45 minutes. Paid $116 for mid AM tee and not worth the money. Marshall was absent thru the round. Greens in mild condition not rolling true. Fairways are in fair condition. Bunkers are made of concrete with minimal sand. Regardless of any excuses this comes down to poor Management of operations and maintenance. Never coming back to play here.
This course has a great layout.
This is an amazing course fantastic views great layout I drove 2 hours from San Diego to play it and it was well worth. I had their breakfast burrito in the morning and it was very good.
Best Layout Not On The Ocean in So. Cal BUT....
For the last few years I've played here A LOT, especially when they had the Quarry Club but now that they're COVID gouging on the weekends, not a chance I'm playing there on Sat or Sun and paying $180. Here's the problem(s):
1. You never know what shape the course is going to be in (greens especially). One week they're great, the next it's like they haven't cut them since I played there 7 days ago. If you're getting $180 on the weekends, how can you possibly skimp on staff for maintenance as that's what I'm guessing the problem is. The day we played I saw one maintenance guy who was edging the grass next to the cart path on different holes when the greens were slow and bumpy. Why wasn't he cutting the greens that morning if he's the only maintenance guy working that day. We don't care if the grass is edge cut around the cart paths when the greens haven't been cut in days.
2. The carts are great however, the GPS tracking on them to ensure you don't drive into a forbidden area are off the charts ridiculous. If you get anywhere near a bunker, or even just drive in the rough on holes the GPS/cart thinks you're entering some zone you shouldn't be and shuts down to literally less than 0 MPH. This happens to me countless times during a round and it's become unbearable.
3. No cart girl and the snack shack is NEVER open in the afternoon (no idea if it's open in the morning cause I won't pay the COVID gouging green fees). We tee off at 3 pm M-F and even when it was light til 8 pm the Snack Shack is closed. This is Riverside, Summer, we're dying of thirst and there's nowhere to get anything to drink.
4. PLEASE change the layout back to starting on what's now #3. It was a great, risk reward short hole vs. now #1 is a very tough par 4 that's no fun to start out on. Tough tee shot and tough second shot right out of the box....
Guys, you literally have the best inland track in Southern California, PLEASE do something about these things ASAP and truly make it the best course not on the ocean in Southern California and stop treating the beauty you have like it's some garbage muni for your guests! I have guys in my group who will no longer play Quarry due to these things. I drive ALL THE WAY from Long Beach M-F to play there in the afternoon and deal with all the traffic cause I love your course so much but that's going to stop soon if these things continue. This is not meant to rip on you, purely to share what so many of your patrons are feeling about your incredible course so you can do something about it. You've clearly got the funds now to do so and have shut out so many of your best customers for the almighty COVID gouging dollar.
Signed,
Concerned Quarry Lover!
Hardly no place to get drinks
I never do a review. The course was in very good shape. Huge issue I have with this course. There was only one place to get drinks. I don’t drink alcohol. On the 11th hole was the only place to get this. I paid $150 per person. I except more for this kind of course . Please get this fixed. I want to come back. We also had lunch which was fabulous.

Fun course but not worth the price!!!
Close to $100 for a twilight round on the weekend is too much for any non country club course first off. Don't mind paying that price if the experience is worth it...Staff was a bit stiff and rude, no range balls available to warm up.
Greens were fast but really bumpy and the holes where all chewed up like they haven't been re-cut in days...The edges were all rounded, not sharp at all...Several UN-repaired divots all over the greens.
Fairways were in awesome shape...But most the bunkers were dirt...really poor....
No on-course beverage service at all and the mid-way snack bar was closed...the temperature was over 80- degrees and no beverage service...Would have been nice if the pro-shop would had tipped me off to that before I tee'ed off. (Sign in pro shop said mid-way snack bar was open)...
Prices in the pro shop where that of a resort course for merchandise...way over priced...A logo hat should not cost $40...Slim on the inventory to choose from on top of that...
Sorry, most likely will not be going back at those prices for that experience...
Slow pace
Went out on Monday and had to endure a 5:10 round. Zero course management, disappointing.
Loved the layout and the risk reward aspects on some of the short par 4’s. Some blind shots and picturesque holes. Slow play with some walkers ahead of us. It’s to spread out to walk this course with some holes being a long distance away over hilly terrain. Plus there was no Marshall to keep the pace going or snack bar or food cart. And the ninth hole wasn’t even close to the club house to come back to get something. Bunkers were also under repair with most being unplayable out of. But I would love to play it again.
