Beautiful course!!!
Beautiful views on this course. Greens are fast and true, well maintained, but for first time player far too many blind shots. Lost a ball I thought I hit well because I had no idea where it landed. But still a great golf experience, as long as the twosome in front of you let's you play through.
Beautiful course
Excellent condition, friendl6 staff, good restaurant
Stick to the other courses in the area
I played Grandview after a coworker recommended it to me. I probably won't be taking many recommendations from them anymore. It has the feel of a course where everyone is there playing their only round of the year. We encountered a few groups that had no understanding of etiquette; they were playing music so loudly that it could be heard 4 holes away. The people in the pro shop were fairly rude as well.
Besides the greens, the course was not in great shape. Lots of brown patches and large portions of the fairway with unseeded sand filling in dead spots. The brake on my cart even kept failing. I can tell that at one point this course was probably pretty nice, but it's far from that time.
If you only golf once or twice a year and don't care about course quality, this seems like a great cheap place to play. Otherwise, you're better off paying a little more for a better experience.
Hidden Gem
I am glad somebody wrote a review prior to me and called this course a hidden gem. We played every course at Shanty Creek and 2 courses at Grand Traverse. This was my 2nd favorite course behind Cedar River. If you consider the price paid, this would be number one. Great and memorable layout, greens were beautiful. OK, the fairways weren't as plush as the higher dollar courses, but they were still nice. A great golf course with that Northern Michigan feel. Thank you to the previous reviews for getting my group to try this course.
Outstanding golf
An excellent golfing experience in all respects. Course conditions could not have been better: lush fairways, challenging but fair rough, greens that were fast and true. Holes were well laid out, varied, with elevation changes that added to our enjoyment. Literally the only drawback was that we were not 20 years younger so we could play a second 18 the same day. Will go back soon and more than once. Do yourself a favor and play Grand View.
Grandview
Beautiful fabulous course love the layout greens were awesome the putting was challenging and the restaurant with great.
Hidden Gem
Beautiful course. Well maintained. Played early (8:30 am). Practically had the course to ourselves. Looking forward to another round in the near future.
A fun course to play
The course was in pretty good shape for this time of the year. It has some blind tee shots with plenty of elevation. The best view of the area is on top of #5 tee for sure, take lots of pictures. Overall, the course is great for anyone making the trip up north, and want to find a great place to golf at!
Never Disappointed
Grandview is a great course! It’s a hidden gem and is always in excellent playing condition. The Manager was nice enough to let us switch our HOT DEAL time. The forecast went from mid 70’s to 90 degrees. We received an earlier tee time to beat the heat, no questions asked. Very pleased with every about this course. It’s challenging and you have to be very crafty on certain holes. 5/5 for me!
BEST GREENS AROUND!!
A new twilight special of $20.00 after 4/5pm will get you UNLIMITED golf til dark. What a fantastic price.
The Greens were so smooth and rolled so true I couldn't believe it was the week before Memorial Day. I really like how there isn't an overabundance of sand traps on the course, but just enough for a challenge.
Alot of elevation changes and very challenging holes is the reason I keep coming back. And it's only 15 miles from our summer home. I try to play here at least 5 times a year, any more is a bonus.
Come check out this course and see where they get the name, GRANDVIEW!
A Diamond in the Rough
I frequently play this course as it's close to our summer vacationing spot in Kalkaska. It is definitely a TRUE Gem. What makes it a challenge is its location - off of a dirt road and away from the heavily populated areas (Traverse City & Gaylord)
Pros - Fairways are always plush and the greens are gorgeous and roll true everytime. I love this layout. Many elevation changes, elevated tee boxes, some holes open, some guarded by lush Michigan forests. Truly an up north feel. The value isnt bad either - $35 for twilight summer rate.
Cons - Relatively outdated Carts.
- The older gentleman working the counter has always come off as being rude. Almost as if he's doing you a favor by letting you play.
If you want to play a serene course with plenty of challenges and picturesque views, come here!
Nice enough course but they have to work on they're watering of it. No rain for the last to weeks and there is standing water everywhere. If u leave your approach shot short it either comes back a foot or plugs. And when u go out to hit your shot there is a good chance your gonna sink in too. Too bad could be really nice. STOP WATERING.
