Timber Trace Golf Club

About
Timber Trace Golf Club sprawls across the rolling countryside that surrounds Lake Wallaby in lower Michigan. The location seems rather remote, giving the course an isolated feel, but the round is well worth the trip. The layout is routed through tall pines and the fairways effortlessly flow across the gently rolling hills. The wooded terrain is one of the course's major draws. Golfers from as far as the metro Detroit area come to enjoy this scenic round. The layout has an interesting mix of holes that offer plenty of variety. There are some tricky spots but you won't come across any carries over wetlands or ponds. Golfers will face long and challenging back-to-back par 5s starting with the 15th. This duo has the potential to ruin your score.

Timber Trace
For being late in the season, the course was in great condition. The best conditioned public course I've played all year. Also, on the first tee we had to wait until the group ahead of us reach the first green. This kept the course from feeling crowded and the place of play not rushed.
Excellent Course
Friendly staff reasonably priced great greens well worth the price
2nd time here
Did not play well first time earlier this year. Went back to get some payback. Lowered my prior score by 9 strokes with some better putting. Greens are tricky. A number of times you think it is cozied up close to the hole only to watch it keep rolling to the left or right near the hole, Sand bunkers seemed different. "Heavy" sand is the best I can explain it. Left all 3 of my bunker shots short of the green. Suggest using the practice bunker before playing - I did not.
Great job by the new ownership
This course used to be in such bad shape which was a shame because the layout is great. The last 2 seasons have seen massive improvements in conditions.
Pleasantly Surprised
Played Timber Trace for the first time this past Friday and was pleasantly surprised. The course was in exceptional shape. Greens rolled true and somewhat fast. The fairways and greens were in great condition but the other areas of the course were just as beautiful. Greens fees were reasonable and the staff was very friendly and helpful. I highly recommend this course.
Saved the day
First off, I only play on Sunday due to work schedule. With that being said, I must of messed around with my filters on the app and I accidentally made a tee time for Saturday instead of Sunday. It was no problem with these guys, they just asked if I wanted to play and made it happen. So glad they did because both myself and my buddy drove an hour from two different directions to come here. WELL worth the drive. Corse was wet but the greens played like it never rained, they rolled true and smooth. There was some spots on the fairways where you could tell other players didn’t care about filling the divots. Other than that the carts are equipped with great quality gps and sand for your divots. The club house though small is well equipped and clean. The bar area is a great size for the building and had hotdogs, bratwurst, and beer for the turn. Overall a fantastic experience and we will definetly be Back.
Beautiful Course
This course was definitely one of our favorites in the area. It wasn’t super busy, and the layout was great. We also had the opportunity to see a fox run across the course. We’ll definitely be back!
Timber Trace - Great...and getting better
Timber Trace is back at the top of my favorite courses I like to play. The course continues to improve under new ownership.
The course is in great shape. Greens and fairways were spectacular. Sand traps continue to get better and better. Even the rough is in good condition. The other staff members were all friendly. The clubhouse is clean and well appointed.
I would play here everyday if my body would let me
Great course
This course reminds me of a lot of courses in northern Michigan narrow fairways that are tree lined. Grains that are well manicured and roll very easily.
