Amazing
Great course, with Great views the Golf course played very well , and it was very well maintained five stars in my book will come back again and play
Way too many slow woman foursomes
Course nice but 5 hours on a Monday late morning is too slow. Course packed with foursomes of woman who were way way too slow and no rangers to move play along. Will not be back
Fairways are great and the greens are super fast
Fairways look great and the greens are super fast . If your looking for a tough place to golf for a reasonable price this is the place to be . My score is always higher here but today I had a drink and a dog at the turn . Had a fantastic day and walked away extremely humble. Nice place to golf if your up for the challenge.
Whispering Pines
I live in Monroe and my golf partner lives in Canton, but we drive out to Pinckney because Whispering Pines has the best value.
Greens-They were cut and rolled with the perfect amount of speed. The slope on a few holes can be tricky, but it’s NOT carnival putt putt, it’s just challenging.
Fairways- Also cut tight so you get a reasonable run out on your drives, unlike half the courses in Michigan where you hit a drive and find your pitch mark in the fairway because the fairway grass is longer than intermediate rough.
Rough- The rough was only long in some areas around the green, but the length was consistent.
Bunkers- I can’t truly comment on the bunkers because I haven’t been in them yet.
My only two constructive criticisms I have are with the cart paths and tee boxes.
Cart Paths- on a scale of 1-10....... ( 2 )
Between the carts being gas powered and poorly maintained and the asphalt being bumpy, uneven, with roots coming out of every path, it makes for a very uneasy ride. I like to treat the course with integrity and respect, therefore I don’t ride within 50 yards of tee boxes and greens, but I will start to ride in the fairway just to avoid the path.
Tee Boxes- Scale 1-10...........( 3 )
The tee boxes honestly don’t need a lot of attention, but if they were maintained like the fairways and greens are, they would get two thumbs up. In my opinion, all the tee boxes need is to be leveled. Every box is sloping forward or slanted. The fairways here have enough undulation, the tee box is the one place that doesn’t need more slopes.
Overall a fun, well maintained course for the value. I will continue to come back because the greens, fairways and playability.
Good layout; well maintained great value.
Good challenging holes. Strategic par 4’s. Used every club in the bag. Course in good shape. Will go back for sure.
Great Value
Course is in good shape with a challenging layout.
Probably the best value around with a cart included.
Call the club house first before booking
I ended up over paying by choosing to book on golfnow instead of calling the club house. So cal the club house first bc it’ll save you money great course one of my favorite hidden gems.
Amazing value, well designed holes, terrific!
I played Whispering Pines for the first time. I must say that just about every hole was designed wonderfully with 3 challenging Ts, fair but challengng undulating fairways, and appropriately shaped but consistent greens,. This is a thinking players course. You will leave the driver in the bag on most holes if you want to score well. It it not too long, but it remains challenging because it is tight, and because it rewards appropriately place 2nd and 3rd shots. It is also a lot of fun to play here. If this were in Oakland County it would cost $80 to play. If it were near Traverse City or Gaylord it would cost $100+. The clubhouse is nothing fancy, but their beer is cold. It also has great and very different par 3s.
A real hidden gem!
This is a fantastic golf course.
It resembles some of the best Northern Michigan quality golf courses with a variety of hole designs and tall pine walls. Every hole has its unique design and challenges, making the course a real fun with a plenty of challenges.
For the price you pay to play this course, you can't beat it.
Drunks Ruining The Course
A buddy and I played yesterday behind what must have been a Saturday morning league, and they were obnoxious. Screaming, hollering, acting like drunken frat boys. The greens were trashed with foot-scuffs and un-touched ball marks. There’s excessive cart wear all over the course, crushed beer cans on the tee-boxes and the woods are littered with booze bottles, beer cans and garbage. Like too many local courses, the slobs that play there are ruining what is otherwise, a beautiful, challenging, well-kept course. We gotta do something about the party-boy leagues though... It’s ridiculous.
Nothing short of amazing
Challenging, rolling fairways greens and t boxes were well manicured, even the surrounding neighborhood was beautiful and well reappointed. Highly recommended!!
Whispering pines is a whispering gem
Fantastic courteous staff, course is challenging but well maintained and not overwhelming
Good place to golf but don’t give your credit card number to Golf Now.
Course was great. However, I booked through GolfNow and had my card number stolen. It was used for online purchases at an amusement park. Only place I used it was GolfNow so the theft was from that booking.
Again I find myself wondering how you rate this course so high. I this case you get what you pay for and cheap golf is more important to some the real quality. Maybe this rating is based on your comparison to other tracks that are worse but hard to imagine there is worse out there.
