Quail Brook Golf Course
About
Quail Brook Golf Course in Somerset is one of central New Jersey's top public courses. The challenging design is a favorite amongst local golfers. The layout has a diverse mix of holes, some of which are spacious and wide-open and others that are rolling and tight. Although the golf course may seem short at 6,630 yards from the back tees, don't be fooled by the yardage. The course can feel much longer thanks to the hilly terrain. The front nine has subtler undulations while the back nine is dramatically hilly, which makes it a tough course to walk. Quail Brook Golf Course's undulating fairways lead to challenging sloped greens that are framed with strategically placed bunkers. There aren't too many opportunities for driving, but your short game will definitely get a workout.

Great Round
The crew at Quail Brook always work hard to maintain great conditions. Kudos to you all who work so hard to clean up the course and get all those leaves off the playing areas, amazing job!! Quail Brook is my favorite local course by far, it feels like home! Great job guys!
Conditions were...
...excellent throughout. If I'm being picky, there was a very thin layer of sand over hard pan in the bunkers. Explosion shot won't work. You have to pick it clean. Maybe 60 degree wedge instead of sand wedge.
Satisfied
Except for the extreme cold weather (40-degrees) and windy -- it was an enjoyable day. If you can a discount on Golfnow, play this course.
Enjoyed time spent
Quail brook was good layout that penalizes for being in the rough. Nice place but it's another course that gets hung on buying time from Golfnow. Worth the fee on Golfnow.
Good but
Relatively short course but need to keep the ball on the fairway. The rough is long and hard to score well if you stray from the fairway. The greens were very slow. Overall condition of the course is good considering the rain we had recently.
Very nicely maintain course
This course is in great shape. Nice putting greens and driving range. The staff was friendly. We really enjoyed playing here and will return this fall for another round.
Manager's attitude
Did a hotdeal for 2:50 teetime. Got there at 2:10 and ask staff if we can go out earlier.
Manager heard me and said not and to come back in 20 minutes. Came back in 20 minutes and was to come back in another 10 minutes. No reason for the pettiness - the course was empty. JUST GIVING US A HARD TIME. Never went back after that.
Manager's attitude
Did a Hotdeal for a 2:50 pm teetime. Got there 40 mins earlier and the course was wide open. Spoke to staff if we can go out earlier because of possible rain. Manager heard our conversation said no and to come back in 20 mins. We came back after 20 minutes and was told again to come back in 10 minutes. THERE IS NO REASON FOR US TO WAIT... JUST GIVING US A HARD TIME. Never went back since.
Great Value
Never seen course in such great shape. The greens were flawless. Just wish golfers would fix their pitch marks. Everything was in great shape.
A must play again.
Pleasant golf
once again, the staff showed extraordinary courtesy and consideration. Band-Aids were made available after 9 holes for sore hands. Very friendly staff.
Nice Course
Nice course, good conditions, nice practice facilities.
Shot my lowest round here today!
Great Value
I enjoyed my round at Quail Brook. The course was in very good condition and was a great value for a Golf Now Hot Deal. Started on the back and pleased with course conditions. Greens in good shape and a good layout, albeit not overly challenging. I will be back.
New Forward Tee Locations Improves Quail Brook
Quail Brook is my favorite Somerset County Course. The course is always in great condition, the staff is friendly but most importantly the layout if fun because of the variety of holes.
There are some long holes that are a challenge for shorter hitters or beginners (from the front tees) but the course management team has recently made changes that make par a "reality" on the longer holes from the forward tees.
In the last few weeks (as of this writing 6/30/2018), Hole 5 and Hole 13 forward tees were moved up about 40 yards. In the past, even with a good drive it was hard to get on these PAR 4 holes in regulation. Now, with a good drive and second shot you can get on in two.
Previously, the forward tees were moved up on Hole 12 (PAR 4) and Hole 14 (PAR 5). Hole 12 is a fun par hole because if you get your drive on top of (or even better, over) the hill then it's an easy approach shot on to the green (but you need a straight approach shot or you could end up in the bunker on the left or front right). Hole 14 (which is a dogleg right) is still an excellent challenge because your second shot really needs to set you up for a good approach shot to a green that is down the hill, protected by bunkers on the left and right and if you go long there is junk on the back of the green. The green does run back to front so that helps but do try to hit your shot below the hole location.
Quail Brook has always been a great course but these new tee locations makes it a very fair challenge. You still need to make great shots to par the holes but at least now good shots are rewarded.
Good course for the money
Using the Golf Now Hot Deal was a very good deal for the course. Less than half the cost. Quail Brook is a good layout for the average gplfer
Hot Afternoon at nice course
I always like the course. It would be challenged if you don't hit the fairway. I always enjoy the course even it is over 90 degree.
