Quail Brook Golf Course
About
Quail Brook Golf Course in Somerset is one of central New Jersey's top public courses. The challenging design is a favorite amongst local golfers. The layout has a diverse mix of holes, some of which are spacious and wide-open and others that are rolling and tight. Although the golf course may seem short at 6,630 yards from the back tees, don't be fooled by the yardage. The course can feel much longer thanks to the hilly terrain. The front nine has subtler undulations while the back nine is dramatically hilly, which makes it a tough course to walk. Quail Brook Golf Course's undulating fairways lead to challenging sloped greens that are framed with strategically placed bunkers. There aren't too many opportunities for driving, but your short game will definitely get a workout.

2nd time is the charm!
Played last weekend after getting shut out b/c of an outing a few days prior. Staff was very nice. Drive from Philly in about 75 minutes. Paired up with two great guys. This course is very well maintained. Lots of sand; not too much water. Played shorter than the advertised 6091 with generous landing areas. Greens were medium speed, large. And increasingly complex as distance from the cup increased. Very smooth and consistent. Nice range & large putting green. Wish they had beer! Reasonable value.
Good, amusing choice
The course was in very, very good conditions. The greens were in really good shape even having been aired not long ago. Quail Brook golf course is very nice visually as well. While it is not an overly long course, it does poses some challenges: the rough is hard to play, there are a few out-of-bounds, and the proximity of the trees in some holes make you play smart. The staff is very friendly. The putting green is great. Highly recommendable.
Great Course
I have been Quailbrook for many years it is a great course .You should have some golf skills because it is challenging.
Weather Hot, My Golf Not So Much
The course was in good shape considering the inconsiderate people who don't fix their divots and ball marks. Greens were crazy fast, making them quite a challenge. Staff was very friendly guiding me during my first trip here.
A very pleasant experience due to the staff and the people I played with. Everyone was friendly, positive, and upbeat. That made for a very pleasant outing.
Can't wait to go back!
Nice track
Very nice layout. Good condition, and although it was a wet day, sand traps were in excellent condition.
Quality Course
I really like this course. Only discovered it last year and this was my third round on it. It's a good layout in quality condition, especially the greens. The greens here are true and roll at a quick pace. Not crazy fast but quick enough to make you think and be a little cautious at times.
This is a course that is very scoreable if you're hitting it well. Good shots are rewarded but you can get in some trouble if you're not striking it well. It's a very fair layout in that respect. The front 9 is flatter and easier, although holes 4 to 6 give you a nice challenge. The back 9 is more difficult and features more elevation change. The greens on the back are also challenging, notably #10, 11, 15 and 18.
I have always enjoyed coming here and hope to return soon. They have a driving range to warm up and a very good putting/chipping green with a speed that matches the course exactly. Neshanic Valley gets most of the attention in Somerset County (and rightfully so, it's outstanding), but this course is a quality, less expensive alternative.
Great Shape
Course was in great shape - with greens rolling true.
Would recommend to all
Great track to enjoy.
Been playing here for years, course is in great shape except for the # 2 fairways that seems to be loaded with geese poop.
Course layout easy to par, greens can be very fast can be on par with some expensive semi- private course.
If you like a nice track and very affordable rates GO BOOK...u will enjoy the no matter what level your game is...Weekends are usually crowded, be prepare for a 5 hour round, since no ranger on the course and if you happen to be behind these gambling geezers GOOD LUCK!!!!
They have no business teeing from the gold tees...
Very disappointed
I had the good fortune to play Green Knoll and Spooky Brook for the first time this year and was very happy. After reading a lot of the reviews about Quail Brook, I was super excited to play here. The conditions were fair at best. A lot of bare spots all over the course. I found the layout to be boring. This was one of the few times I couldn't wait for the round to be over. The two guys they teamed me up with were also disappointed. This was a one timer for me.
Rolling layout
The course as a wonderful design with numerous interesting holes. The back tees make it very difficult. The tees one step forward gave me a good chance and a total of 6100 yards. The front nine is more flat and like a links course. The back nine has numerous undulating Fairways and more trees in play. The greens were excellent. The heads up staff got us out before our Reserved tee time.
Great Layout
Course was in great shape, well kept greens and fairways, friendly staff. Been their before and will do that again for similar price.
Fantastic Course
Great Course that was in great condition and alot of fun to play. One of my favorites that i have played.
Nice course at a fair price
A nice course at a fair price. Front desk staff are very friendly. One negative is that there is no food concession. A couple of coolers containing bottle water is available on the course. Honor system is used in regard to payment. All in all a good course for us average golfers.
Great place
Conditions were great .greens in excellent shape .highly recommend playing this course
Staff very friendly
Rock solid
This is a solid county course, well maintained. Conditions definitely above average. Course is poorly laid out through housing, but the holes offer a nice variety. Well worth it.
