Very good course. This is an old layout, designed by Donal Ross in 1927. I've played here numerous times since 1980.

Black Mtn Golf Course
I was very impressed at the quality of the coarse for how little it cost. Only problem was because of the low proce and great value it was kind of packed and that was at 3:10 on a Tuesday so plan carefully when you go or you could end up waiting at each hole like i did. Worth if overall.

Great mountain course
Played here a lot in the past when visiting from Florida. Course conditions are excellent and especially the fairways and greens. Tee boxes are a little beat up but that did not take away from the overall experience at this course. Staff was great and accommodating for me as a single to pair up.

Views, value and friendly staff
Setting is beautiful and the course is fun for most abilities. Expect to lose a few balls if you're a duffer like me. Pace was slow at first, but worked out as we played. Ranger was helpfull and attentive. Carts arecin great shape. Food at Green Tee was amazing. Got a great deal on Golfnow.com. Came back and played a second time before our vacation was over. Highly recommended. Way better than Municipal.

Poor layout
The tea boxes are right next to the greens, which creates issues with being quiet all the time. There are lots of blind tea shots, where you cannot see all the way down the fairway, and potential for hitting another player on the course is great. Other than that the course was in excellent shape and I liked the design of several of the holes except of course, number 17.

Super fun layout with a lot of variations in elevation.
Escape the heat of down below by playing in higher elevation. There was a great Breeze and the humidity was lower. Real fun layout with lots of variety. Greens were in great shape. Fun views

Beautiful
Fantastic course. Visually stunning. Very challenging. Loved the 692 yard par 6 (#17). Saw a huge black bear wonder across fairway.

Very nice track
This course had all of the challenges that a golfer would want. Long par 3’s, long par 6 . The course was being cut while we were there and they had rain the night before , the course held up very well. The greens were in excellent shape and ran the same throughout the course. This course is a must for golfers when you visit Ashville

Nice Course
Nice course for a variety of skill levels. Very pretty playing across undulating fairways … even saw a bear. Only negative was the that foursome was behind a group (two adults and two kids) that were slow and quite frankly clueless on the etiquette of golf (2 holes behind the group in front of them). While on the course I called the starter but nothing was done.

Great Value
Lovely course that’s located just outside of downtown Black Mountain. This course is scoreable, but yet has its challenges. I would recommend this to anyone who doesn’t want to pay crazy money on a tee time.

So. Slow.
Pace of play is abysmal if you start after 9 am. No one will let you play through. Tee time was full yet they added a walk on at the same time. Guys in front of us were hitting 2/3 balls per shot. I’ve played at 8 am and it was quick, fun and enjoyable. Noon tee time is no good.
