Great Course
Great layout! One of the more fun/difficult courses I have played. The weather was bad, rainy and muddy. The course was still in great shape. The only problem I had was with the staff in the clubhouse, the guy working the counter was rude. Still worth playing again.
Best in NW Missouri
Best course in a 50 mile radius. Championship caliber layout. Challenging but still fun. Quite a few blind shots so beware. Bogey golfers bring enough balls.
Early season
For this early in the season the course was in excellent shape. There was very little wind and the temperature was above normal for this time of year. The green are in great shape.
Mid January golf has limitations
Nice overall course. Wide open. We played in Mid January probably mid 40s with a strong wind. Course had nice views. Fairly basic course. Food consisted of Reece's and chips.
Beautiful course
Very friendly staff and beautifully maintained grounds - very clean.
One of the best courses in Northwest Missouri
Great course other then the 2 " of rain the night before and the fact they had a tournament and everyone stayed on the cart path !!
would recommend it to everyone !
Nice to see they are adding a course for our future golfers
Wide open long course.
Wide open fairways, lots of neat hazards, long holes, very green. No beer cart girl though.
Mozingo Lake
The finest golfing in NW Missouri. Well worth the trip. Challenging , yet very playable. Keep the ball in play and putt fair. You shoot good score 85-90.
Scenic Well Conditioned Course by Lake Mazingo
My brother Mike and I were able to play this fun and beautiful course on consecutive days (25-26 July 2014) during our fishing trip to Mazingo Lake. Being a full time engineer and 9-hole golf course owner/operator from Iowa, I only get to play a full round of golf 5 or 6 times per year. I was very pleased that Mazingo Lake Golf Course was on my short list to play in 2014.
The course was in very good condition, other than some sparse and rough conditions further off the fairways, which is expected on courses like this. The fairways normally gave you a nice lie, the greens received shots well, and they rolled smooth, although a bite slower than my home course. I think they had the green height up a little to survive the hot, humid weather easier, but I think most people will find the green speed to their liking. I loved the course routing, elevation changes, Tee options, no-mow areas, and view of the lake from many holes. While there are numerous bunkers, they are mostly for esthetics, as I managed to miss all of them during my 2 rounds. This was likely the best municipal course I have ever played (other than Torre Pines over 25 years ago).
Both days were around 95F degrees with similar humidity, but we had a slight breeze which made it bearable. Although we used a power cart, we did see a few walkers and hats off to them for walking such a long, rolling course in the heat of summer.
Mike kicked my butt on the Mazingo Lake bass fishing, but I got back at him on the course. I shot a 78 on Friday during my 1st round ever at Mazingo, mainly due to not knowing landing areas and the greens (a few 3 putts, no made putts, and coming up short on many chip shots). However I adjusted on Saturday with an easy 1-under 71.
I’ll be back in future years during fishing and camping trips to Mazingo Lake !!
nice course
great course nice snenic lake veiws challenging great staff nice carts
excellent condition
The course was in great shape. The greens were fast and well maintained. The course was "cart path" only on Sunday afternoon and that was good as the fairway was rather wet at places.
Done the right way!
This was the first course I every played 4 years ago. I have since played several courses in the Kansas City area and around the state and non out do Mozingo. Everything about Mozingo is done the right way...from the condition of the course, to the kind and friendly staff. I have only had great experiences playing at Mozingo and would highly recommend making the drive to Maryville to check it out!
