Lochmere Golf Club
About
Located near the banks of Swift Creek, Lochmere Golf Club has plenty of water incorporated into the layout, coming into play on nearly every hole. The golf course stretches across a lush, gently rolling landscape sprinkled with mature trees and ponds. The terrain showcases the best in Triangle golf. At just over 6,600 yards it is not particularly long, but it provides plenty of challenges. It is a tight course that will test your accuracy with narrow fairways lined with trees. The small greens that are heavily protected by well placed bunkers demand thoughtful strategy and pinpoint control. The golf course offers a fair challenge but it is still accessible for beginners, especially from the forward tees. Lochmere G.C. is a favorite among Cary locals, both for its enjoyable design and its affordable rates.

First timer
They should really tell you when you book either through GolfNow or otherwise, that the greens were recently punched... they rolled HORRIBLY... pace kinda sucked and never saw a ranger... overall conditions- average at best.. tee boxes need a LOT of work... don’t think I’ll play here again
Repeat issue
Pace of play has been very slow both times I’ve played. This past time there were at least 4 different groups booked for the same exact tee time, yet none were able to start on the back 9?
Good Course Layout
Good course, not overly long. Tight tree lined fairways with swift creek running throughout. Course was aerated recently and very sandy on the greens but they marked down tee time prices to reflect that. Good mix of variety on the holes and dog legs.
Only main complaint is the course has a major drainage issue. Don’t play if it’s rained within the last 2 days!
Normally nice ... not this time
So what do you say about a 4 1/2 hr round in 90 degree heat without ever seeing a ranger AND realizing when you arrive that the pro-shop somehow neglected to tell you that they had recently punched the greens making them, basically, unputtable? When I asked why we weren’t given warning about the conditions the answer I got was ... wait for it ... “well I guess we thought everyone knew”! Really? So much for being treated like a paying guest. Played this course many many times, but this might have been the last. Truly pitiful customer service. Horrible golfing experience.
Need more signs for players to start off the back. Had several pairings jump in front of us when we made the turn to the front nine.
Will be back
One of the nicest courses around. Beautiful greens and well worth the $32 we paid for the round! Fun course. Pace of play was slow as they were packed and running well behind.
All in all will be back many many times!
They didn’t have our reservation
Showed up at the course after paying Golfnow $10 for a booking fee 3 days in advance. The course didn’t have our tee time on the books. Highly disappointed in Golfnow.
First time
Nice short course from the whites so you can have a good time if not a pro. Lots of nice water features. Overall good value.
Always wet
Course is known for poor drainage. Rained within 24 hours so standing water everywhere. They must fix this chronic problem to compete. Also, don’t play on Monday. Maintenance traffic almost every hole,, very noisy and distracting. Just not a fun round.
Great golf/Very hot
A great day of golf . Teamed up with some millennials and had a great time. The "rounded" greens made it very interesting. The fairways were fantastic and specifically enjoyed the pace of play. NO waiting the entire round. A key suggestion. Either allow coolers or let's get some beverage carts out there. Some water would have been greatly appreciated. See you again.
Always delivers ...
We had the misfortune to end up behind a slow group, so pace of play was a bit painful, but we have been here plenty of times and everything else was as expected. Even with the slow group, we had a great time and the other folks at the course, including those behind us, were laid back and just enjoying a late T time going into the holiday weekend.
Quality in spite of COVID
Golfed many times at Lochmere, and the conditions of the course were superb today...in spite of the COVID situation. Nice addition with the Bluetooth speakers on the carts...made for a relaxing round, in spite of the slow pace of the group in front of us. Fairways are grown in nicely, and greens are in superb condition. Well done Lochmere...keep up the good job.
