Lochmere Golf Club
About
Located near the banks of Swift Creek, Lochmere Golf Club has plenty of water incorporated into the layout, coming into play on nearly every hole. The golf course stretches across a lush, gently rolling landscape sprinkled with mature trees and ponds. The terrain showcases the best in Triangle golf. At just over 6,600 yards it is not particularly long, but it provides plenty of challenges. It is a tight course that will test your accuracy with narrow fairways lined with trees. The small greens that are heavily protected by well placed bunkers demand thoughtful strategy and pinpoint control. The golf course offers a fair challenge but it is still accessible for beginners, especially from the forward tees. Lochmere G.C. is a favorite among Cary locals, both for its enjoyable design and its affordable rates.

Swampmere
They don’t call it swampmere golf course for nothing. While the layout of the course is one of the best in the Raleigh area, it has an incredible problem with draining. I don’t think I have ever seen this course dry. Then you add on the golfers that dig 4 inch deep divots into the moist soil and the fairways turn into a mess. The people there are fantastic and some of the friendliest. If they could solve their drainage issue I think this would be one of the best courses to play in the area. Greens are some of the best I’ve seen recently.
Nice Course but...
I enjoy my time at the course but the problem I tend to run into is it’s always really marshy through the course. I am not sure if that’s because of bad drainage or what the issue is but it never fails that the grounds are wet which causes a rough time to play. That’s the main issue I find.
Mixed Bag
Like the title says, there's good and bad on this track. The good: Plenty of water in the layout and greens are in really good shape. The staff is friendly. The bad: This course just doesn't drain well for whatever reason and because of it parts of it get damaged by the mud and water and never get a chance to recover. Tee boxes are a mess. Overall it's a decent layout with a more challenging back 9 but there's better values in the area although nothing else in or around Cary. I wouldn't avoid it but probably won't be back this year. Again, it's not the course's fault that any time it rains it becomes a swampy mess and stays that way for days after.
Mostly Good, would play again
Greens excellent, best sand in traps of any course I’ve played this year... fairways just ok... very busy... cart path only but perhaps didn’t need to be.... 5 hr round... Parking an issue again. They have brats... they have a beverage cart...
Great Course
Always a great course to play. Whether the cart rule is 90 degrees or cart path only, regardless, it’s always time and money well spent when playing!
Course is in very good shape considering all the rain we've had recently. The greens were top dressed with sand the day that I played. They were rollling.well and should be perfect in a week or two.
Great Course
Love playing this course. It’s busy but it moves. The course is well kept and has a balance of difficulty and fun. It is valued priced with friendly helpful staff.
Good challenging course
Course was in good condition. Pace of play was good. Completed 18 holes in 4hrs.
Ruin by Maintenance
This is a great course overall. But the maintenance crews are very rude, disrespectful, and loud. This is the second time this week playing the course to have maintenance crew to ruin shoots and slow down play because they drove on the tee box or green while people we’re ready to take their next shots. They don’t shut down their equipment. They drive close to golfers while they are hitting or putting and the noise is deafening. Today there was a group on the green, a group in fairway hitting and we were waiting on the Tee box waiting to hit. The maintenance guy drove his tractor with his load noise around and around the guys on the fairway then proceeded back to tee box to drive around and around while we were teeing off. It’s distracting and caused some to lose focus and strokes. The course gets 3 stars mainly for this. Distracted golf is not good.
Great Course
The course is great especially from the Ladies tees. The maintenance people are very rude and disruptive to players. We were backed up seriously with 3-4 groups. The maintenance people were cutting in the tee boxes, fairways, and on the greens. In the fairways with people standing waiting to hit on the tee, the maintenance guys drove boldly interrupting play. While on the tee or on the greens they cut on the boxes with the noise and disruption. It was very distracting and rude. They stop for some and not for others. They slowed play down significantly. There was no golf ranger on the course.
