Lochmere Golf Club
About
Located near the banks of Swift Creek, Lochmere Golf Club has plenty of water incorporated into the layout, coming into play on nearly every hole. The golf course stretches across a lush, gently rolling landscape sprinkled with mature trees and ponds. The terrain showcases the best in Triangle golf. At just over 6,600 yards it is not particularly long, but it provides plenty of challenges. It is a tight course that will test your accuracy with narrow fairways lined with trees. The small greens that are heavily protected by well placed bunkers demand thoughtful strategy and pinpoint control. The golf course offers a fair challenge but it is still accessible for beginners, especially from the forward tees. Lochmere G.C. is a favorite among Cary locals, both for its enjoyable design and its affordable rates.

Always a fun course
Course was in good condition. Fun layout with plenty of hazards and streams guarding the pins. Very short course but well laid out.
A little damp. But greens excellent.
Nice day. Wore my water proof shoes.. greens beautiful.
Nice. Round!
These folks are doing everything to keep their social distancing easy. Cart was sanitized, other golfers were aware and courteous.. course was in nice shape and when a few weeks go by should be great!
Driving by range and putting area are nice. Yes
While it was a sunny day and not that much rain very recently, the entire course was standing water. Truly, it should have been closed until it could dry out just a little more. I'm not a complainer normally but it wasn't a playable situation. Greens however were in great condition especially for winter.
I’ll wait till spring
What do you say about a 5+ hour round hitting off mud?
Swampland
Course should never have opened until it drained. Only warning given was “Cartpath only” but even pull carts and feet were leaving deep ruts and marks. Lost three balls in the fairway to mud and casual water. Forward tees (red and gold) were ALL casual water and slick mud.
Eight holes were more than enough to handle. Didn’t even ask for rain check as I plan never to return
Nice Course. Old School. Tree Lined.
I played on 2/26 and it was a day I should of stayed home. It was a mud fast out there. Courses this time of year are like that. This course is a great track and enjoy playing there quite often. Hospitality is always friendly. Food/Snack Bar/Pro Shop is fantastic. This is a solid 4 star course across the whole spectrum of qualities a golfers looking for.
Needs to dry out
I love Lochmere. I play there a lot (and live just a couple of minutes away), but the extreme rain and now the snowmelt of the past couple of weeks have made the course unplayable. The greens are fine -- I really don't know how they manage that -- but the mud in the fairways is now so deep that it's a challenge to keep your shoes on. Finding a dry place to take relief is almost impossible. None of this is the fault of the staff, and I'll definitely be back. But right at the moment, the course desperately needs a week without rain.
what were they thinking?
Usually this course is in pretty good shape but the day i played was the worst course conditions of anywhere I have ever played! They should have closed the course b/c it will cost them to repair the fairways from the damage done by people walking or pulling carts over their mud infested fairways. EVERY hole was muddy with 3/4 of each fairway super muddy and slippery.
Wet
Course had casual water everywhere. May play better when dry.
Do not play days before rain
The golf course Is in wet land and it is not worth the money to play in the wettest golf course ever. I will never here again if it rained days before.
It’s went downhill
This course used to be one of my go-to courses as it was easy for me to get to and was generally in pretty good shape.
They seem to have really let the course go and are not interested in putting any work into it. The drainage is non-existent. Unless it’s been 85 degrees for two straight weeks without rain, the course will probably be wet. There isn’t really grass on the tee boxes. It’s just mud. Much the same for the fairways. The greens used to be pretty solid here, but even they aren’t very good. Ball marks everywhere (fix your ball marks, people), bumpy, just very average. I’ll probably give them a couple months and play the course again in April to see if it’s any better. If not, that will be last time playing the course.
Do not play unless there is a drought.
Terribly, terribly wet. Walked due to cart path only and even then there were areas you could not walk through. Greens were very nice and the layout is really nice but the water on the course is keeping this course from being really great. I realize it sits in a lowland and hard to drain but it was really an unfair course when this wet.
Nice layout, wet, CPO, $30 on a Thurs
Location, location, location. Great spot. Course is such so that it tends to get under water easily. No ones fault, just a fact. Makes for CPO quite often and soggy conditions. Neat layout with creeks and lakes that are in play. Greens were fair considering season and recent cold snap. I though $30 was slightly high for late AM Thursday given conditions but it was still enjoyable and fun.
