Lochmere Golf Club
About
Located near the banks of Swift Creek, Lochmere Golf Club has plenty of water incorporated into the layout, coming into play on nearly every hole. The golf course stretches across a lush, gently rolling landscape sprinkled with mature trees and ponds. The terrain showcases the best in Triangle golf. At just over 6,600 yards it is not particularly long, but it provides plenty of challenges. It is a tight course that will test your accuracy with narrow fairways lined with trees. The small greens that are heavily protected by well placed bunkers demand thoughtful strategy and pinpoint control. The golf course offers a fair challenge but it is still accessible for beginners, especially from the forward tees. Lochmere G.C. is a favorite among Cary locals, both for its enjoyable design and its affordable rates.

Great course
Professional and friendly staff. Range and cart were in great shape. Greens were clean just had a number of bare spots from bad rains, I assume. I would recommend the course and return when I'm back in the area.
Not the best around
Although the rates are cheap, there is little grass on the tees, burned out fairways, and sand all over the greens. Spend a little bit more somewhere else and have a great experience.
Do not play here
Course in terrible shape - probably one of worst courses in the area. There are open holes in fairway that look like they go into the drainage/sewer system. Hit a drive down the middle on number one and saw ball disappear. Walk up and there’s an open drainage pipe near where ball landed. Waste of money.
Bermuda not ready yet
As of 5/10 Fairways at Lochmere were still very thin. Greens and bunkers great. Tee boxes on most holes very rough. I'd recommend giving it a couple of weeks.
Nice course
A very straightforward course, setup nicely for all levels of play. Greens are very nice, fairway and tee boxes likely feeling the effects of a wet Spring. I did enjoy the round, but the price is high compared to other courses in the area. You are paying to be in Cary. Try it once and see what you think.
Tuesday morning Seniors
I played behind a twosome (with no one in front of them) that took at least 2 1/2 hours for 9 holes.
Teeing area needs to be cleaned up. Broken tees all over tee areas. Grass conditions were poor. Branches all over the course. Grass needs to be fertilized.
Awful conditions
The fairways were awful!! Hardly and grass. Mostly mud and and patches of hard dirt....in the fairway.
By far the worst course I’ve ever played, that’s not an understatement.
Conditions
I assume due to a wet winter/early spring the course stayed flooded and wet. Fairways have no actual grass, just crust and dirt. Only course in area not green and growing. Glad i had a good deal from Golfnow. They have a long way to go before course is close to playable!!!
Lochmere
This is an excellent course and a good value. The layout is very good and challenging. It was a bit wetter than I would have liked, but we did have a lot of rain a couple days before I played. I would definitely recommend Lochmere and I will be back.
Drainage Help Needed
This course had a nice layout and the greens were in good condition. Unfortunately the fairways were basically flood plains, very little grass to hit off and lots of mud. My groups opinion was that the course was not in fit playing condition after what had been recent heavy rain.
Lochmere Review
This course is a nightmare whenever it rains and was in terrible condition. Playing in wet conditions tough, however playing on a course that lacks attention and upkeep is demoralizing. Top dressing fairways goes a long way to helping prevent random bald spots in the grass.
I really wish they took better care of this course because it has a lot of character and neat design.
It's a good course to play on when it is dry for a few days. The only thing I dislike is the holes feel all the same, nothing interesting or to remember.
