Lochmere Golf Club

About
Located near the banks of Swift Creek, Lochmere Golf Club has plenty of water incorporated into the layout, coming into play on nearly every hole. The golf course stretches across a lush, gently rolling landscape sprinkled with mature trees and ponds. The terrain showcases the best in Triangle golf. At just over 6,600 yards it is not particularly long, but it provides plenty of challenges. It is a tight course that will test your accuracy with narrow fairways lined with trees. The small greens that are heavily protected by well placed bunkers demand thoughtful strategy and pinpoint control. The golf course offers a fair challenge but it is still accessible for beginners, especially from the forward tees. Lochmere G.C. is a favorite among Cary locals, both for its enjoyable design and its affordable rates.

Could Be Good!
Perfect weather on a Friday, mid-morning...but right off the bat we were almost 15 minutes past our tee time. Most likely b/c they allow walkers, but what's ridiculous is they allow walkers to join a group in carts, like they did to us! So now we had 3 men in carts, who all play to a 10-12 HCP, and we are paired with an older lady who was probably a 30+. Ridiculous. I've played here many times, but not in a few years...so $60 for Lochmere? That's a little crazy.
Course in Great Shape
Course in great shape for late summer. Greens very true rolls.

Nice course. Fun layout. Great value with Hot Deals
Great Deal
I got a great deal at $30 for 18 including cart. The course was in great condition and the pace of play was excellent. Not many people on the course, I think because of the extreme heat.
Course in great condition. Greens are very good and roll well.
Really good value
A fun course to play that is in really good condition. Friendly staff with driving range and putting green. Really nice to have a starter and an active Ranger to keep the pace of play on target. Grill at the turn was great as well.
Great course, overpriced
Course was a lot of fun but $60 for a 3pm tee time that doesn’t at least include range balls is a bit much.
Lochmere better than expected
I had not played Lochmere in about 20 years and was pleasantly surprised. It has been well maintained and the drainage and water issues seem to have improved somewhat. The staff is friendly and the price is very reasonable for such a nice course.
After the rain
Considering the 4-5 days of mega rain the course was in decent shape and the work to clean up hadn’t really begun just yet. Thankful they were still open and allowed us to play. Greens were in good shape. Tee boxes were worn out and the mud has not helped. Recommend regulating the use to help let them rest a couple weeks probably. Good overall experience.
Good course when dry
I played this course several times and is always in good shape except after a rain storm. This course doesn’t drain well and can get pretty sloppy. Pick a dry day to play.
Great Local Course
I was surprised at how well the course was maintained. I had always heard of it having bad drainage but it was quite dry even having had a month full of rain and it raining during my round. If you play safe you will be rewarded. Bunkers were good, rough wasn't ridiculous, kind if tighter but not overly long. A good challenge but not overly difficult. The greens rolled like glass for being so sandy and being a public course. I will definitely be coming back.
Good, a few areas for insight
I like how the greens roll. The green side bunkers were immaculate. We played after a week long rain, given it stopped for 18-24 hours before we went out. With that said, I had hoped for better drainage as some fairways were swamped. Overall I will play here again for the right hot deal tee time price. And for the love of everything holy, please lower the food prices. $9.50 for a glizzy is highway robbery. I mean she’s a chunky son of a gun but still…
Nice layout, wet conditions
I liked the course layout, a bit tight for some players. The course was pretty wet all around with casual water just about everywhere. The pace of play was slow on a Saturday, our round took just over 5 hours. The staff was great and the grill staff were excellent. I would play there again under dryer conditions.
