About
Rocky River Golf Club was carefully carved from lush, rolling hills and natural wetlands with the intent of preserving the beautiful terrain as much as possible. The course flows across the dramatic natural contours of the land, providing holes with plenty of elevation changes. Running alongside the rolling fairways are winding ribbons of native wetland grasses that weave through rocky outcroppings. Golfers shouldn't be surprised if they come across some of the wildlife that inhabits the course, which includes cranes, deer, and beavers. In addition to the stunning scenery, the golf course offers a challenging round. The large, contoured greens demand accurate iron play. Errant shots will find their way to the wetland areas or the patches of seeded fescue. In addition to the golf course, Rocky River offers a driving range with four target greens as well as a putting and chipping green.

Course is great, pace of play is hit or miss
Course is in great shape, even for January. Layout is fun, I always enjoy playing here. Pace of play was brutal though, a group of 3 held play up so bad and made it a 5 + hour round on a Friday. I thought the course might have been backed up, but the group in front of us got through these 3 guys at the turn and we never saw them again. Fun course but catch the wrong group and you’re going to be waiting between every shot.
Good Course - Fun Views & Solid Day
First Time Playing the Course, Right before the holiday. Played as a single with a threesome. The course wasn't too hard (comparatively, I played awful & that's not the course's fault). It was well taken care of in terms of the leaves were under control and in decent control in terms the overseed / greens handled alright for December. There was some forgiveness at points and if you just don't be dumb, you should be alright.
Driving Range Mats
Beautiful course. I live in Greenville, SC, my brother lives in Greensboro, NC. When we meet to play golf Rocky River Golf Course is our "go to" course. The course, pro-shop staff, snack bar staff and outside staff is well trained, courteous, and professional. The only negative I find with Rocky River Golf Course is the below standard condition of the driving range. After an almost 2 hr. drive from Greenville. SC on Hwy 85 to the course I need some time on a driving range to unwind and loosen up. The range facility at Rocky River does not provide this.
Rocky river
One of the nicest around. The staff treats you like a member, I have been going there for many years and really enjoy. Challenging but fair. Hard to find a better kept course during the summer. Late fall and winters can be rough on the course as expected but when spring rolls around, the maintenance staff work their magic.
Only complaint is the booking agency they use. I prefer to talk direct to the staff to make tee times.
Great condition this time of year. Greens rolled great
The course is in very good condition for this time of year. The greens are quick as always.
A top notch public course
I always enjoy this course which is usually in good shape with fast greens. There is a good mix of holes that can challenge every golfer. The prices are above many other public courses, but usually worth it.
Poorly managed
No shotgun starts, starting six’s ahead of doubles, over an hour late for starting tee times and had no way to contact people so we just had to sit and wait by the first tee in a sad train of frustrated golf carts
Course is in great condition & paced of play was excellent.
Practice balls & facility were horrible didn’t suit with the course.
Rocky River = Excellent Greens
Greens were fast and perfect. Rolled true on all 18. Hands down best public course in the Charlotte area.
