About
Rocky River Golf Club was carefully carved from lush, rolling hills and natural wetlands with the intent of preserving the beautiful terrain as much as possible. The course flows across the dramatic natural contours of the land, providing holes with plenty of elevation changes. Running alongside the rolling fairways are winding ribbons of native wetland grasses that weave through rocky outcroppings. Golfers shouldn't be surprised if they come across some of the wildlife that inhabits the course, which includes cranes, deer, and beavers. In addition to the stunning scenery, the golf course offers a challenging round. The large, contoured greens demand accurate iron play. Errant shots will find their way to the wetland areas or the patches of seeded fescue. In addition to the golf course, Rocky River offers a driving range with four target greens as well as a putting and chipping green.

Nice course
Played with two walkers who slowed me down. 1 hr for 6 holes then 3 hours to finish and never saw the group ahead of us. Driving range was not open and it was too early for beverage services in the clubhouse apparently. Course excellent but also heard pace of play can be really slow. Members said 6 hours is a thing. I can see that if they are walking ans the back is hilly
Great course
I played 3 courses on consecutive days, and this course was far and away the best. The bent grass greens were quick but true, and course condition was excellent.

More than the river is Rocky!
Challenging layout with excellent greens for putting. Well appointed pro shop, nicely merchandised with competitive prices.. Electric carts with built in GPS are a big plus - you can even listen to hip-hop, Mozart, or cool jazz using the Bluetooth option (Wha?!). Large rocks come into play on several holes, particularly #3.
On the downside, this course is carved out of lowland woods so your ball is easily lost just a few few feet off the fairway (but you can usually find someone else's ball!). Some holes are cart path only due to soft fairways, negating the cool GPS carts. Grill room is okay, although during slow season the menu is very limited. Probably would be better if more golfers (and non-golfers) stayed for sandwiches.
All-in-all, a very good golf experience - one of my favorites in the Charlotte area. I highly recommend this course and please stay for lunch and a draft beer.

Best golf in the area!
First time playing at Rocky and I have got to tell you it is worth it to write a review. Best golf that I have played so far in this entire area. I am from Huntersville about 25 minutes away and this place is a gold mine! Staff is extremely friendly, pace of play is great. Course is in unbelievable conditions. Carts are updated with screens, Bluetooth, small coolers. I will absolutely be back here. This will most likely be my main course that I play. No need for a rangefinder because the carts I have live updated tracking and GPS… yesterday it poured down rain and it was still in phenomenal condition and 90°. Five out of five stars 100%

Best Public Course in Charlotte Area
This is the best course in the Charlotte area. It's in great shape.. Greens are firm and fast.
Rocky River Golf May 30 2023
This course has the fastest greens I have played maybe ever! But the greens are true! I played with a father/son who were excellent golfers; both shooting close to par! I made two long putts but missed lots of short ones!
The conditions were excellent. This is a really good course.
Best Layout in Charlotte
I love this layout, it's tough but not too tough. Wide fairways for the most part, very, very firm greens that rolled smooth and fast. Bunkers were in great condition as were the tees and fairways. My only issue was the twilight rate for green fees and a cart were less than the green fees for walking and I love to walk. The person I spoke to on the phone said pay the $55 for the cart and walk if I wanted to. Should be cheaper to walk.
